So here we are wondering what's going to happen with the big fight. I've been hearing for months now that Tyson is afraid of Lewis and doesn't want to fight him, well here are some thoughts from a boxing fan.
1. The press conference: It's pretty common knowledge that Tyson's licence appeal had no chance after this event. If Lewis wanted to fight so badly then why didn't he make a statement simply saying that it was staged to at least give this thing a chance? Instead he let Tyson twist in the wind and hang himself like he has many times before. Not that he had to defend him but just admit that the thing was staged and move on.
2. Since the whole press conference fiasco Lewis has said that he will only fight Tyson if he got professional help. Like he didn't know that he was a head case to begin with?
3. It seems that since Tyson has been trying to get licensed else where that Lewis isn't trying to make the fight move on. All you hear of is Tyson's camp trying to secure a fight while Lewis is again staying quiet and announcing possible fights with other opponents.
4. Lewis' interview on Larry King was so brutal. I think we're all tired of hearing Tyson biting jokes yet he sat and made about 10 of them, even King got annoyed. I also doubt that he was bit at the press conference since it would take quite a bite to go through his pants and rip out a piece of flesh, also you know that there would be pictures if it actually happened.
Bottom line is that since Tyson is Tyson and Lewis is the champ we have no reason to believe Tyson in anything that he does. I just don't see Lewis being all that eager to fight Tyson by his actions.
Let the flames begin!
