Accepting who we are.....

Bet you don't have kids eh Nathan?
It is tough as heck trying to build up their self confidence some times.

It's odd that you should say that because I know I get my ideas of perfection directly from my parents and being raised by them. Unfortunately, my own standards are so high that for others that are not used to such a thing I am at times in their eyes as someone that just can not be pleased.

I don't think you can build the confidence of your children you can be supportive of them but finding themselves and their value must be done of their own. (Unless you want to create a Paris Hilton sort of child) And although I am not a parent, I think that as a parent or teacher you must know the difference between challanged a child and breaking their spirit.

I'm just like "wow these fat asses just dont care"

I really have to give them respect for being happy with their own bodies. Good for them. Wish I could be happy with my not fat but not lean body.
I don't think they are
I think many use food to medicate their lousy self esteems
and it gets worse
kind of like an alcoholic using alcohol to treat depression(something I've done)

We are never good enough, thin enough, big enough, smart enough, rich enough etc?
I, for one, am always crucifying myself to do better.
This site a perfect place to ask this b/c many here strive for perfection.
I'm not saying we should lose perspective on our goals, but why the need to always be better when what we have is really ok??!
Why can't we just accept who we are and what we have?

In America if someones asks "What do you do?" the person responds with their job/career. In Europe, they typically respond with a hobby or pastime.
It shows what is stressed in different societies. It might have something to do with overall difference in life expectancies as well. Depends on what you value most in life.

We are all those things
we are just so clouded and limited by definition most of those traits are held captive by our own ability to create

Complacency. Maybe it's human nature to always try to improve in one or more areas. It doesn't bother some people to be fat and weak. It doesn't bother some people (ahemmm) to not have a lot of money). Sometimes I wish I could be satisfied with my physique and physical abilities but that will never happen.

I should have been born in Europe. I hate it when people ask me that question. They define you by your job in this country.

well being darwinian and all......this is it. its not very romantic or mysterious but ALL human behavior can be explained via the evolutionary route. down to those god-awful shiny rims ppl put on there vehicles. (status: i got $$$ for rims fuck me) my body is good i make lots of $$$ my jaw is square my legs are long= your genes are safe with me. we have to invent gods, ufo's, romance, conspiracy theories, esp and afterlives because the reality of physics and evolution just aint enough for most folks. the irony here is if you have the intellectual prerequisites and you study these subjects you will be more than satisfied with the TRUE mysteries of life and the pursuit of them. we are like we are to propagate the species. also see GESTALT THEORY. ok flame away.......

Where do std's fit into this equation? Money don't cure herpes or HPV, for example. Status is still merely a mortal concept at best.

There are as many rich pieces of shit out there as there are poor ones. Opposite ends of the status spectrum. Generally much of the poor deserve to be poor, rich to be rich, but I guess with capitalism the way it is these days it's not enough to work hard anymore.
