Archery seasons starts Sept 1st even though the elk really don't rut until the 15th.

personally i'm not a fan of wild game, too gamey tasting
same with vension, wrecks my stomach

Ya grouse season started on the first also, I stuck 2 with my bow while hunting, they were everywhere.
