5x5 Problem

ExtraMile

High End Bro
Platinum
At my gym the smallest plate there is is a 1.25kg (2.75lbs)

This means I have to round the weights up

Im currently doing the madcow 5x5 but only for deads.

On wednesday my week 1 deads were went to go like this:
64kgx5 - rounded up to 65kg
76kgx5 - rounded down to 75kg
89kgx5 - rounded up to 90kg
102kgx5 - rounded up to 102.5kg

The problem is, next week (week 2) my first set should be 65kgx5 but that is what I did on the first week, the next weight up I can go is 67.5kg (a 1.25kg each side) but week 3 is 67kgx5 so if I do 67.5kg on week two I will have jumped 2 weeks. If that makes sense?

Will this matter or should I do 65kgx5 again for week two... I thought steady weight progression was the key to the madcow 5x5 though so would this not work? This may happen a few times...

small differences aren't gonna make that big of a deal IMO. You don't need to follow the 5x5 to the dot, its just a basic template to give you some kind of direction.

use a consistent rounding plan. and you should be ok. if not you can always go buy some links at a homedepot store and measure out 1.25lbs or somthing for chain ring you make

I went out and bought 4 one pound ankle weights. They were all I could find. They look dumb as hell but they do their job. It also means when I'm at, say, 351 or 356 pounds (or whatever) I can wrap the one pound weight in the middle of the bar.

Work with those increments.

I think I will do this, I aready have some 1lb weights but I dont think they will fit on the bar, I do have some 2.5lb ankle weights like someone else mensioned I might take them exept they will probably just be awkward...

No one's going to say 5x5 for dead lifts only?!

To each his own, but I can personally testify to what a wonderful program it is. I would highly suggest to stick with the main lifts in the fashion he prescribes.

You can play around with support fluff, but I wouldn't.

just my 2 cents.
