5X5 and Tendons

I' ve been doing a very simple 5x5 for about 6 weeks and my strength has been going up every workout.

I'm think I'm starting to get a mild tendonitis in my biceps though. I guessing my muscle strength is outpacing my tendon strength.

Should I change to a high volume work out for six weeks and switch back to 5x5 for my biceps later?

Anyone else have this Problem? I love the strength gains but I've had elbow previously and shoulder tendonitis currrently and they both sucked.

Actually tendonitis is a sign of overuse and fatigue.

I personally recommend that you follow a light cycle low volume traning for a short while. Either that or let yourself rest.

I have a really bad case in my wrists. This is only aggrivated during barbell type curls and nothing else. Try switching all of your bb workouts to a dumbell. Worked for me

Thanks, louden.

I'm anxious not to give up the gains I've made in the last several months. I'll have to have a sit down with my spreadsheet and see about how I can adjust my workout to provide me more rest days between exercise. I've split back and biceps on seperate days and have been emphasizing rows for my back. If I move biceps to my back day I think I'll end up effectively reducing my volume and increasing my rest days. I've been doing Back, Chest, Arms, rest, Shoulders, legs, Rest as a weekly schedule to date. If I switch to Back/Biceps, Chest/Triceps, legs, rest, shoulders, rest, rest, I can steal an extra day of rest. Is this good thinking or am off base?

thanks again,
robert.

Robert,

Don't worry about losing gains. . .cause you won't as long as you are training. The last thing you want to do is end up with achey joints and stagnate progress. I think a light cycle will do you a lot of good. . . you can lighten the weights to 60 to 70 percent of your max tops.

I find with the 5x5, 5x3 etc., you have to do a light cycle every now and then. The stress can get pretty overwhelming on your body. Lay off, and correct the problem before it turns into something more serious and permenant.
