Your pick for a $30k out the door coupe

Did you guys ever look into an evo? What's your opinion on them? I'm strongly considering my next car being an Evo MR touring. I need a car that's going to an alternative to an SUV in regards to handling different surfaces. I'm moving to CO sometime soon this is why. So I was thinking something awd and all the reviews have raved about this cars handling on all different surfaces. Ever seen that Top Gear episode when it races to smokers down a mountain.... Bad azz

That Top Gear episode with Tanner Foust driving the Evo down the snow trail was pretty cool.

Did he get the 6-speed or the CVT? Four or six? The engine in the four-cylinder CVT rental I've got sounds almost exactly like the 1974 Vega my mom had.

Mitsu = POS

Gayu Eusegi, Mitsubishi’s Global Product Director, recently stated that the Evo series will be discontinued, as the model does not fit the company's future eco-orientated development strategy.

Josh wasn't at all interested in the Subie. I like them a lot, but it's his car though, so his choice. He got CVT Altima. We both were biased towards a manual, but it turned out to be very short throw and he had a lot of trouble differentiating 1st and 3rd. Plus the clutch take up was pretty abrupt and he kept breaking it loose on take off. The CVT was actually pretty sweet. Snapped off super fast, but not overly hard, shifts and did a very good job of managing the torque on take off.

Infiniti FTW. Should have chimed in earlier. Driving my first Infiniti now and it is the nicest ride I have had and I have some pretty sweet rides.

Infiniti G37 would be the uber bomb, but the monthly payment just too big. You'd have to go back three MY's to find one under 30k OTD and with acceptable (20K) mileage. Even then we're talking APR in the high fives at 60 months which runs the payment over $550 a month. Just too much unfortunately.

In related news, actually I just drove my aunt's 2011 7 speed G37 yesterday evening. OMFG so fucking sweet. That automatic rivals Mercedes. Very, very slick. The last 37 I rode in was an '08 Josh test drove a month ago and though it was very nice, the new ones are a whole nother level of awesomenity.
