As you may have known my basement flooded. They sent me an advance to get work started and now they just sent me the remainder. However going by my fair estimates and work done and paid for so far, and factoring in depreciation and my 5oo deductible they are still off about 1600 dollars
they sent me no itemized list of the details of how much they were paying for each thing like you would get if your car went to the body shop

Anyhow I am in the midst of writing the adjustor a nice kiss her ass letter detailing the invoices and see if we can come to some conclusion

any advice on me getting what is rightfully mine from them?
also I did not balloon up the estimates for waaay more money. I kept everything fair because I knew I would be doing 50% or more of the work myself

any help would be great

request a suppliment. i had to bump state farm 3 times for enough bucks to cover the water damage in my last house when the hot water hose for the washer burst and flooded part of the house.

So they kinda guess/lowball you hoping you take what they give you, but if you ask and present all the facts and figures it's no problem getting more money?

that's how it works with state farm. i assume all the other blood-sucking, money grubbing, souless insurance companies are the same?

did you tell them you were doing some of the work yourself?? if so you may be sol..but the squeeky wheel gets the oil thats' for sure..

One of our closest friends actually works for Zurich as an adjuster/appraiser. And what he told us makes us ill, both us for hearing and him for tellin us. His job (and he was told quite succintly that it WAS his job) was to screw people out of paying them as much money as possible. I shit you not. He was actually transfered to another department which meant a 15K a year pay cut because he had the balls to speak out and say that it was immoral. (He is a single dad with 3 kids, 2 in college.) They couldn't fire him for stating something so outrageous out in the open, so they transferred him to try and make him quit. The guy is now working 2 additional part-time jobs and told his kids they have to get jobs too to help out at home.

Like Rnch said, keep asking politely for what you are due and you may get it. But I wouldn't be too upset if you don't.
