i dont really want to get into politics - but this quote is what's wrong the the republican side...
just pure selfishness...god forbid you take a small hit to your income to help someone that didn't have the same opportunities as you..
he's not targeting anyone - his ideas are like lending a helping hand - something most people wouldn't even think to do on their own.
everyone says that everyone has an equal shot in the world, but it's just not true.
yes, some of the money will go to lazy people who are a drain on the world and no thats prolly not right...however, the thousands that it does help takes a precedent over the situation.
i am fortunate to be in a situation where i may be in college, but my family pays and one day id like to think i will pay them back, even though they dont need it.
everything is always me, me, me, bigger bigger bigger, house, cars, vacations - think about the people havent driven a car, lived under a roof, seen an ocean, even left their zipcode..
and dont even call me a hippy...end rant.
i am a successful white dude but i am not a republican. i pay a SHIT LOAD of
personal income tax. what i pay annually in income tax would take the average
income worker 7 years to earn. I PAY MY PART AND THEN SOME!
the other part of this story is the loooong hours, sacrifice and planning it took
to be successful. i took hit after hit and i got back up every time. i worked my
ass off for just enough money to survive. i had a long term plan and i was willing
to follow through..........
and you have the wrong idea about peeps with money and success. we are the
people who create opportunity and wealth in this country. the vast majority of
us help lots of people. we give money to the organizations that we feel are
worthy and we provide opportunity to those who are willing and capable.
most of us are opposed to government mandated redistribution of wealth.
the world is full of people who haven't left their zip code. the world is full of
people who will NEVER take a risk. the bulk of men will never sacrifice for years,
keep their eye on the ball and get wealthy. tough shit. if you are a smart boy,
you'll understand this by the age of 30.
you can't empower the poor by denigrating the wealthy.
