floor experts:ort, others....vaccum question?

my floors at the money pit are 1880's heart of pine, sanded with 3 coats of water based, polyurethene varinsh.

will my vaccuum cleaner beat them up?

it's a dirt devil with the "automatic height adjustable" feature.

it works well on the oriental area rugs, but am hesitant to use it on the hard wood floors for fear of scratching the finish.

If it has a spinning beater bar at the bottom DO NOT use it on any hard surface, esp PINE as it is a very soft wood.

yeh, i thought u would say that. my presious vaccum, an ancient 1970's monster, had a "beater bar deactivate" feature. wish i had it back now!

I think it works pretty good. No, it doesnt do as great of a job as a bad ass hoover or dyson, but does the dyson vacuum for you every night???
