Anti Depressants while on a cycle

Wow, it's been a while since I've been on EF. New site looks great.

Hopefully someone here has experience with slight depression, as I could use some advice/testimonials here from people.

I've been suffering from a very low form of depression for the past 3-4 months I would say. Last week my pyschiatrist assessed me, and gave me a prescription for Celexa. He wants me on 20mg/ed.

I've been on cycles before, and I'm about to start a Test/EQ/Dbol cycle in a months time.

I was wondering if anyone knows if there are any hidden or apparent dangers to being on an anti-depressant and using steroids at the same time?

The doctor said it will be fine, and chemically-speaking, the drugs shouldn't cross paths ever. However, I want to be 100% certain there would be complications.

We all remember when our favorite WWF wrestler, Chris Benoit, took his families life as well as his own, and a toxicology report started he was using steroids and anti-depressants...

Does anyone here have experience with this? Anyone using anti-depressants while using gear. Any issues?

Yep, i take lexarpo at 10mg per day. Test puts me in a great mood to be honest. I have had absolutely no problems in the last year of doing this.

While i know celexa is an SSRI (like lexapro), i don't know much else about it.

Ive mixed the two with no problems. Benoit was abusing benzos and pain meds bro along with anti depressants. Not a good combo.

Steroids have nothing to do with a selective serotonin re-uptake inhibator

check out a PDR and see if there are any drug interactions. You should be fine.
if your clinically depressed,, you may hold off on AAS cycle until under control.

I'm not clinically depressed. I don't even think I'm sad, I just have a lot of the other symtoms of depression, so that's why I'm on a small dose. I haven't started yet, don't even know if it'll work.

Just remember that most antidepressants take over four weeks to even become therapeutic in level to achieve their desired effects.

Depends what you take....I took Effexor and wouldnt think of doing AAS..I was sweating and my heart raced...it was the shits! I felt happy at least..

The thing with SSRI's is that they will pretty much zap your will to train. And then that makes me question the whole validity of them to begin with as to whats actually more helpful to you? Meds or Working out? My vote would go to training, unless your into Bodybuilding to be Markus Ruhl. Then it would be an unhealthy venture and I would say meds.

I've been on effexor for years. Done 2 cycles while on it. No issues..a little anxiety w/ the eq but other than that, nothing bad. It will take about a month for the celexa to start working so you might want to wait until it starts working then start your cycle.

Also, true to what wootooom said...you will sweat quite a bit...but you'll be a happy sweaty dude :)

i have never taken antidepressants, but like a normal male i have my funks. dont you all jump over me, but a lot of normal depression can be relieved naturally: hard exercise, getting off your ass and getting yourself out there and making a change, doing house and yard chores. depression is sort of gods way of telling us something isnt right. (and yayaya i know with some ppl it is a chemical thing!)

No thats all good points. When I was really into lifting I felt good. Always went to gym and ate my 6 meals a day. Once I started taking anti depressants that all went away. I want to say some of my deepest and darkest funks of depression were when I was on 225mgs of effexor and taking 100mgs trazadone. Never felt that way when I was working out all the time.

But like Glennds said. With some it is a chemical thing. I dont want to come off all Tom Cruise Scientology on you.

There is no direct drug interaction.
AAS can increase anxiety/nervousness, and cause insomnia. On the other hand, it can also make you generally feel better.

While someone may have taken something and not had any issues - the general rule from doctors would be not to do so. Anti d's provide hormonal changes and have a number of chemical reactions in the body which may or may not react to what you are taking. An idea would be to discuss with your doctor who got you the anti d's or alternatively call up the company.

Remember just because someone did not have an issue with a certain anti d, does not mean someone else will not.

The action of the drug is that its a selective serotonin reuptake inhibator. Thus you have more serotonin available which in turn increases your mood. That has nothing to do with juice. Juice doesnt increase/decrease serontonin. But like you said. Check with a doctor before listening to some yahoo like me off the internet.

You are more than likely correct Galaxy :)

However this selective serotonin reuptake inhibator does not just work like that making more serotonin available which in turn enhances the mood. As you know, when you put an external substance in your body it has effects and a number of chemical changes greater than imaginable. I am not a chemist or biologist and could be a yahoo fool :) but the effect comes about by a result of one or a number of different chemical reactions and although this may or may not have direct intefernece with juice, none of us will actually know.

It's like the case of a number of medicines where some people get severe side effects and become suicidal where others have no issues what so ever. Champix comes to mind on this front (I was having illucinations and laughed and things which were not remotely funny) and accutane is another.

:)

I was prescribed Prozac once and I said to myself fuck I ain't taking anti-depressants! Depression is a state of mind maybe you need to make some changes in your life instead of getting into anti-depressants, it worked with me!

My doctor told me it was my wife.lol Said that was my problem basically. Oh well. How many people actually listen to decent advice anyway.lol

Mine was an accumulation of a series of events ( my mother's sudden death, grandpa's death with cancer, problems at school among others)all throughout 4 years who dropped like a hammer once my first serious relationship was over. I could barely eat (5 10 130lbs), my energy was to cry and rage attacks other than that kept myself in the dark wondering about it. I got thank bodybuilding for making me able to get out of that.

Yeah most people don't listen to decent advice which could make their lives much easier! LOL

Be VERY careful with depression. You are correct, it is a state of mind but then that causes a number of chemical changes in your brain and a number of consequences occur because of that state of mind. That is where it gets messy.

Yeah I'm aware of the chemical changes it may occur if you let yourself get caught by depression at long term. I actually have a bipolar friend which is deep in it. Fortunately this happened to me when I was 18 and I got over it through bodybuilding, martial arts and a better social life, those gave me back self-love and respect I needed.

Yes I have experience with Depression and I was miss diagnosed for the last 15 years the cause of my depression was because I had low Testosterone so have your blood check becasue stupid phsychiatrist wont test your blood. But the one Anti Depressant that actually raises your testosterone and helps with sleep and anxiety is Trazadone it works really good for depression and as you sleep it really raises your Testosterone levels I get huge hardons from it every morning and its long lasting so when you take it at night and the next day it will lower your anxiety through the day its really good but the key is to make sure to take it with food because the food activates it not a lot but a light snack before bed and you will feel like sleeping within 30 min trust me you sleep heavy on it I take 100 MG the doctor will start you at 50 MG I was up to 600 MG of it at one point but ask your doctor about it

The antisepressants that work on serotonin can cause sexual disfunction however the ones that work on dopamine have quite the opposite effect rawrr
