Who's the best credit card company?

I hate Chase. I called to negotiate a better rate for my VISA card, and the pathetic "improvement" they offered really pissed me off, and the bitch wouldn't connect me to a supervisor.

So I'm gonna pay off my small balance and get a new card for future purchases. Anyone dealt with a VISA card issuer that you don't hate? I'm sure I've got offers from all of them in my stack of junk mail that I haven't thrown out yet.

Any opinions about HSBC? They've handled all the store-credit purchases I've made in the past few years, they seem to own that market.

They somehow got my number mixed up with somebody that owed money, every time they called I'd tell them they have the wrong number and to stop calling me (its hooked up to a auto-call system). It took a lawyer to finally get them to stop.

Don't pay it off - Just do a balance transfer! That way you will get paid 0 % interest for the first few months or so. I don't know if they have that kind of thing in the US though.

Yeah, there are a lot of offers for 0% balance transfers, but my present balance is almost nothing. I think $199 or so. It's one purchase since the last billing cycle. And some offers have 0% for the first six months, or the first year, on all CC purchases anyway.

Why would a CC company lower a rate for a guy with $199 balance? They're making nothing off guys like you - they'll be happy if u took your business elsewhere. And why should u care?

Pennies make pounds and dimes make dollars - when you add the 300,000 + customers from a bank together, they definitely benefit and it is probably guys like him - the good credit guys - that suffer from the guys who have lower interest rates and always default with bad credit.

LOL @ calling about a $199 balance for a rate
