Whats the best way to learn a language?

Cheers man, thanks. That was a helpful post. Where these just regular films? or educational DVDs?

Its gaelic innit mate or are you talking about English with mispronunciated 'r's? ;)

Just DVD's that you would normally watch. I think the first one I watched was 'Gone in 60 Sec..' the next day I could steal a car in Spanish..:qt:..Great!...............

While a bright person with a natural facility for language may be able to learn to write grammatically correct from a book, it is virtually impossible to learn to speak a foreign language without hearing that language spoken. The single BEST way to learn a foreign language is immersion (living in the country). Failing that, this program claims to be the best (which is what everyone is telling you about but apparently Google doesn't work in the U.K.):

Language Learning with Rosetta Stone

As for thinking the Rosetta Stone was a Spanish porn star *sigh* the Rosetta Stone was a basalt slab discovered in Rosetta at the western mouth of the Nile, during Napoleon's occupation of Egypt in 1799. It was the first trilingual monument discovered, displaying text in Egyptian hieroglyphics, demotic Coptic-style Egyptian language, and Greek and directly led to the decipherment of Egyptian hieroglyphics.

I wish there was a rosetta stone program for sign language. I'm picking it up pretty quickly just with using it with my Sig other, but I'd learn faster with an outside aid.

in which case DVDs and PC learning software would be helpful no?

I also read this. But come on, u ask about a foreign language on EF and someone says rosetta stone and you're NOT supposed to think its a spanish/italian pornstar  (assuming one knows nothing the real rosetta stone that is which I shamefully did not)
