Apartment renters..how much do you spend?

I would have bought a place by now, but I dont see the point of buying a place for the sake of buying a place. You can make more of a profit in the market, so I figure dont buy until you want to call it a home.

i rent only because i am a student and will most likely be having to go to a different school in the next 2 years.

renting sucks.

I rent a place for $950, its a room in a house, 1 roommate, I have my own floor to myself, bathroom, patio, private entrance, parking in the garage, laundry, etc.

Rent is about 35-40% of income...fuckin blows, but that's what the NYC area will do to you

I'm sure a lot of people will jump all over for me for that, but shit's different here

what teh fuck rob, no full bar?

How much is your rent as a percentage of your after tax income? 33% is the recommendation for rent + utils in the budgets I see but they leave a lot of room (14%)for auto expenses I don't have. I might go to 40% to get this apt I want w/o taking on a roommate. I'd still have about $1,000 for misc stuff left over.

Unless you're uber rich - DON'T live by yourself. Boggles the mind why someone would wnat to pay $1800/mth in rent and utils for ONE person. Get a freakin' gf/bf already!

We make around 4 a month combined with wife and I. Our apartment with utilities and water is around 1,100 per month. Area is expensive where I live. But its a 2 bed 2 bath garage, storage, nice kitchen.

Doofus, I still live with a girl I broke up with in 2005. This shit is tired. I'm looking at a nice place that's only $1,400.

Same in L.A. No way you get out for less than 30% unless you live in South Central or East L.A.

Besides, I gots to have reserved parking. Fuck that trying to remember where you parked your car last night and hoping it's still there. In this place I can get my own locked garage for $150.
