I was going to add ....they tend to seem fairly well adjusted people even though they're taught some crazy...I know...we've had this conversation many times....but we were taught a lot of crazy as well. My problem with Mormonism is the ostracism...you love your child regardless. of whether or not they accept your belief system.

I've never met an asshole Mormon...one of my best friends in grade school was a Mormon girl and she was pretty much perfect and in there lies the problem with me...nobody can maintain that level of perfection.

Can we get back on topic? I enjoy watching great wrestling....be it Greco-Roman , freestyle, or collegiate....It's one of those things I know and love..more than my girlfriends for those of you that think I obsess over an ex by defending our relationship when someone else brings it up...I apologize Cindy....I'm not doing it to be reinstated this is a burner account.

Cindy was pretty much right when we had causality arguments...I took the opposite position and after reviewing the literature I was wrong. I'm now in the position of trying to encourage a boy that wants to impress me to start wrestling...he has natural talent but it's his choice...sometimes it sucks having no power but that's how it has to be for the children to develop.

Are you a stepdad? I'm curious about your informed opinion..Aidan wants to please me but I don't want him to wrestle because I want him to wrestle and it's a dick move to second guess the biological mother that uses non-violent and non-coercive parenting.

On a side note, he's brilliant with math..at nine I was able to socratically explain the concept of zero and a base ten counting system. He's weak in writing because his mother helps him too much...I guess my short response is go fuck yourself asshole....

Since when has the church (or Jesus) ever said anything about ostracizing those who decide to go their separate ways. Never. You obviously don't understand Christianity as much as you think you do.

I'm not perfect, but I have never drank alcohol, smoked any drugs, never had sex, drank coffee or tea, dedicated two years of my life to missionary service, regularly give service to the community, donate to charity, etc. Worst two things I've ever done in my life is use steroids and jack off to porn. And I haven't done either of those things in a long time either because I have made the steps to try and better myself as someone who tries to live how I believe I should.

There are millions of people like me, not even Mormon, who actually try day in and day out to live how they believe they ought to, being kind to others, polite, helpful, charitable people who try to make the world better through the way they treat their families and strangers alike.

It's debatable...Dake beat Taylor in the freestyle matches for the Olympics...I'm the last person to challenge anyone at this level...anything can happen but I know a little something about wrestling. Cael Sanderson is the best wrestler of his generation but having a good coach doesn't guarantee shit...I insisted on low probability take downs..I was a freshman with a wicked fireman's and I wanted to use it...I neglected the high probability take downs to my detriment.

he wrestles and plays football, baseball, guitar and piano and he's really good at math and running...hopefully he'll be good enough at one or two of them to have a fun/fulfilling life that's a little less ordinary...that's about all i want for him.

my daughters are in 8th grade and they've already established themselves in the regional music scene and they are both in the top 5 in their class...they're already well on their way to a life less ordinary...plus, music is something that they'll do for the rest of their lives and something that they'll pass on to other people.

Congrats! The one issue I've had with scholastic wrestling is the weight cutting. I did it in Jr. high but refused to cut cut in high school. Dropping 3-5 pounds is nothing but when a kid is wrestling 10+ pounds under their "walking around" weight I'm convinced it has an impact on their physical development and definitely their school work.

I was joking.....we both know that once you get the "wrestling bug" you want to push yourself.....I didn't want to devote myself to the sport because I saw it as limited possibilities....I could coach. Instead,I went the military route but I would have been better off as a wrestler than in the military.

On a side note, I've picked up teaching wrestling at a local MMA gym.... when a commentator for FS1 claimed a wrestler wouldn't hook an ankle during a takedown to turn an opponent like a ju jitsu guy... I realized old men like myself have something to teach these kids. Hooking the leg/ankle was my trademark move throughout my career...
