My ex wants to sell me his 98 Honda accord. It's got 100k miles on it. One owner (his mom) for $1500 and my beat to shit Navi.




What's stopping me is the fact that he pays no child support and giving him a dime chaps my ass. But this seems like a decent deal.

What do you think?
 
Why would you need a Honda in Denver? Get an F350 quad cab dually with a gun rack, chrome mud flaps and a cb radio.

I know the service record of the car, regular oil changes, new timing belt, new tires, and other things. The car is very clean and honda's run forever. My car might be worth maybe a grand (if I'm lucky)....

My Navi has a huge dent on the driver side, a broken grill, messed up bumper. It gets maybe 11 miles to the gallon. The tire on the front driver side has a bubble in it the size of a quarter. The interior is as bad as the exterior, ripped leather, blown speakers, and there is a fan going out in the back.


It runs, but it's got 207k in miles.
 
Its a good deal, I got a civic and my GF has a 1996 civic and she loves the shit out of it.

my old accord is still on the road, still looks pretty good (saw it 2 days ago) and it has over 300k on it :)
 
It's an okay deal v. Even at 2500 youre getting into it for rough trade.

However, I think the bigger issue is his dead beat ass not paying child support. Why don't you take him to court? In Colorado either he pays or goes to jail. They will also yank his drivers license, fuck up his credit, etc.

Hondas don't run forever. In my experience they don't run any longer than anything else that was taken care of.

I had a guy in a Subaru outback come in a coupe weeks ago with over 500,000 mi on it. I would've guessed by looking at it it had 100k on the clock.

I was in that family for a long time. I saw what they did to my sister-in-law when she tried to leave. They are a big family, with money to hire a good lawyer. I have to be careful with how I deal with them for now.

Not paying CS is a big no-no in CO. Trust me, I don't give a fuck what kinda lawyer he has. Either he pays his court ordered support or gets fucked by the courts.

The key point is you know its history and the major thing (timing belt) has already been replaced for you. This isnt some CL deal youre blindly walking into with your fingers crossed.

subaru's run even longer...the bodies usually rot right the fuck off of them before the drivetrain is used up, though.

the old toyota pickups with the 2.2's and a 5-speed were pretty much indestructible too...but they also were susceptible to teh cancer...i still see a lot of them on the road, though.

I've seen 350-400k mile Chevy silverados. Motor and trannies strong as ever, it's just the lil shit like ball joints etc that wear the rfuck out.

yup...changed 2 timing belts in my accord...1 at 100k and the next at 200k...it was a little more than $200, though...you had to tear all sorts of shit off the motor and then unbolt one motor mount and jack that side of the motor up a little to get the cover off (if mammary serves me correctly).

His FAMILY has money. They handed him two cars free and clear. One is the Honda (and it's old but in real good condition) the other was a newish (2yrs old) Toyota Secoya (sp?).
