got a question about "the pill"

Best to wait about 1 month.

But I would make sure and use something
else until the 2nd month...

Depends on the brand

Pretty much all oral contraceptives work by not allowing ovulation to occur. They contain low doses of estrogen and progesterin. This works by not allowing an LH and FSH surge right before ovulation were to occur. Since there is no surge, no ovulation takes place, and therefore no fertilization of egg and sperm can occur.

I think most of the pills say in the literature that you are safe after 7 days. I see no sense in waiting a month or more since she starts a new cycle ever 28 says and the pill doesn't build up in the body.

When I've screwed up missing a day on my pills my doc always said to double up on the pill at the same time the next day & use a 2ndary source of protection for the rest of that month to be sure -- so I'd say a month at min, but he also says it takes about 3 months for the body to readjust to a hormone change.

How lucky do you feel? ;)
