Today I was eating some chicken soup right after taking my supplements, and I wondered if that kind of thing can affect the way supplements work. Would not like to just shit them out before they are digested.

That question is extremely hard to answer, because some compounds will absorb better with food, and others on the contrary – will absorb worse with foods. Also, the extent of this effect will always be different, which makes predictions even harder here. Therefore, for me the best approach is to take the supps half an hour before or after eating. This way food won't affect them all that much.
