neck injury causing muscular problems - tried everything

First a little background for anyone who wants to bear some reading:

So I have herniated disk in between c5-c6. Don't know how, don't know when. I started lifting when I was 19 and lifted pretty hard for 2 years and had great results. I then stopped cold turkey and got a desk job. I have been now doing a desk job for almost 15 years since then, and atrophied with bad posture I am sure.

Within a few years of starting the desk job I started noticing back pain due to muscle tightness. 3 years later I found out I had a herniated disk that could be the cause. I have now been dealing with this known fact for 10 years. I have tried:

5-6 different chiropratcors
months of massage therapy
nerve specialists
back specialists
acupuncture
cortisone injections
physical therapy

and now recently weight training again

NOTHING works!!!!

The muscles that are giving me problems are generally behind the shoulder blade, then wrap around the outer edge of the bone. Then it works all the way up behind and on the bone up to the top and into the shoulder. From there there it goes right into the neck causing extreme pain and tightness, and even TMJ. I can't even go to the dentist anymore.

Maybe people here with some real experience with overcoming injury might know something that nobody else does.

Thanks

After doing a little extra searching on this forum, I think I have found that I have a chronic rhomboid injury, that may or may not be caused by the herniation. Seriously, why can't all these doctors that I have been to tell me that. I have been thinking for the past few days that I would probably find my answer on this forum.

Now the question is, how do I fix it. I ran across another forum that had a HUGE list of people that suffer from the same thing. Seems like nobody really has an answer with the exception of possibly Pilates helping.

This injury will sometimes put me down, and I mean DOWN DOWN, for a few days. I become bead ridden for a few days as I cannot even move.

nerve impingement. i need an honest assessment of your standing and sitting natural posture from your hips to your head

1) does one hip or leg feel tighter, more forward/backward or rotated externally/internally then the other?

2) any pain in hip area on either side of the lower spine

3) does the top of your pelvis naturally rotate forward or backward when standing and sitting

4) when bending over, does your lower back have an arch or does it naturally feel flat

5) take all four fingers and put them against the back of your neck, do you feel a flat or concave surface

how many pounds over your ideal weight are you?
