it's cliche and all, but goddamn that's a fucking song right there. makes me think of pops and all he taught me. remember in school they made you write your own obituary or epitaph? i wrote the lyrics to My Way.

smurfy, if your going to tease KBs fav song (which is awesome too), you at least gotta post up your favorite.

Without doubt, my favourite song is Tchaikovksy's Piano Concerto 1, mov 1 only

The song is simply capable of expressing any human emotion: you have the grand statement of unity between the piano and orchestra at the beginning waltz, punctuated by the opening cadeza, where the piano's sense of self-doubt/conflict brew, brilliant demonstrating by the soloist adopting different personalities with each hand.

After going back to the waltz, the song never displays the same degree of happiness. The song becomes of constant tension - a battle - between the sololist and himself, and against the orchestra. The falling out between the two entities is encapsulated by the 2 key dramatic moments - piano at 7-9mins; orchestra 10-11). The two parties falling out descends into a weary, reflective piano, and gradual reproachment between the parties unfolds.

Simply perfect - the complex emotional relationship between the parties is perfectly captured, and the beauty/drama of some of the moments is unparalled: see ">" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="690" height="350">

Thanks for link.

That's pretty awesome.

I actually prefer this to Jordan Rudess of Dream Theater.

Which reminds me - Dream Theater's Instrumedley has to be on the list (and maybe Change of Seasons live too)

In Flames has been rocking on my comp constantly

thunder road. . .lots of other ones that are fighting for 2nd place. . .but that one hits me everytime i hear it. . .truth be told, no matter how many times i hear it, it still brings tears to my eyes sometimes. . .

oh. . .and i started playing my guitar again. . .a few months ago. . .after it sat in the corner of my bedroom for about 25 years. . .i've really been diggin' on acoustic stuff lately. . .LOVE this song. . .struggling to get it down. . .couple of tough (stretch that damn frettin' hand out, yo!) chords in it. . .i'll get it though. . .and i have a pretty decent voice. . .by this summer, i'll be singing it by the fire in my backyard. . .after i've had a few jimmy beams. . .

No. Thats a fucked up assignment lol

elliott smith - between the bars
the beatles - a day in the life
kafani - fast(like a nascar)
led zeppelin - dancing days
the pack - freaky chameleon
red hot chili peppers - wet sand
smashing pumpkins - mayonnaise

It's a tie between 3:

Springsteen- Thunder Road
Guns N Roses- Sweet Child O' Mine
Led Zeppelin- Thank You

guess i like songs written for/about women. lol

*reposts Manowar*

I never had favorite songs as much as favorite albums, but I guess the concept of "albums" and "LPs" has died and been replaced by ipods for a large part.

Hmm... I think Ghost of Perdition's up there, as are Ulver, Arcturus, Nightiside or Anthems, Borknagar's first one or two LPs, Vintersorg...
