Rational is very similar to logical, and logical is following the provably correct tenets of logic. Modus ponens is likely the most familiar: if P, then Q. P, so Q. It's really quite interesting watching the way you all think. Your thoughts and replies here are very fraught with illogicity, special-casing, mindless emotionality, and marginalization of logic.

I'm not arrogant here, I'm realistic. If you went to some 100 lb nerd forum you'd know you were just about the strongest one there. Similarly, I know I am just about the most intellectually sound person here.

You see, if one truly had the superior intelligence that you claim to possess, that individual would in all likelyhood feel no need to announce this to everyone, and instead would simply show it in his actions and communicated thoughts. To give an example, if you were to visit a board where there truly was a large gap between your intellect and the majority of the members, say a board populated with children with down-syndrome, then I doubt you would feel the need to proclaim your (alleged) superiority because you would be comfortable in its validity....yet here, that is obviously not the case.

I also think some sort of inferiority complex, (to use the popular phrase) is behind you posting this silly thread. You, in your own admission are obviously behind many of us in terms of physical development. This bothers you, so in turn you attempt to convince yourself of your own superiority, (in this case, intellectual superiority) and then proceed to announce it to the board... Are you trying to convince us, or yourself?

Also, remember many of us come to the chatboard to 'let go' and just act stupid, dramatic, silly, and enjoy ourselves...this is not an intellectual proving ground for the rest of us, it (chatboard) is simply a place for entertainment....

I was curious to see what portion of people here, on a board I consider, in general, of below-average intellect, would get angry and defend their intellectual skills.

No, the gap between myself and you all is far smaller than that between you all and Down's syndrome sufferers. The analogy also fails because Down's syndrome kids do not have a very large effect on society, whereas you all, and people like you, have a great effect overall, since you compose a relatively large portion of the societal body - in short, I have no vested interesting in pointing out to Down's syndrome kids the folly of what they think is 'good thinking', but if I get some of you all to acknowledge your lack of rationality and critical thinking, perhaps you will be less impulsive and think more in your common and rare actions.

Yes, I am behind many of you in physical development (though I'd wager I'm ahead of many of you as well). I'm 6'3" 240 and I squat 320 for 5. Actually, my self-confidence is extraordinarily high - I have no problem making friends or girlfriends. I've simply read over these forums, mentally compared them with other forums I've been to, and concluded that you all are a bit dimmer. I thought it an interesting exercise to see if you would acknowledge it. By the way, I realize this is a huge generalization; there are some really bright people on this board, but they are the exception rather than the rule.

As I said earlier, I did not take into account the 'chat' posts in my comparisons. I took into account the naive and simple-minded posts I found in the serious discussion threads.

Zirak, because your proclamations have amused me rather than upset me, I will make an effort to be unbiased and observe a few things about this thread.

First, everyone, including you and I have made an effort to use larger words and more 'scholarly prose' on this thread, which is amusing to me...

Second, while it is apparent that you are at least in possession of average intellect, you come off as vastly insecure and unsure of yourself....through out this entire thread you repeatedly state to all of us how intelligent you are...but you also fail to take into account that 'intelligence' is a very general word and does not describe much on it's own...for example, someone could have very poor logical reasoning skills yet be an excellent piano player... Or someone could be poor in math, yet have a superb knack for making people laugh, making them a comedic genius if you will...

Besides all that, I am very tired and don't have all night to argue this with you....I do believe though that if you truly had any sort of superior thinking skills of the variety you state, you would have chosen not to write this thread at all, as it will accomplish little but turn into a flame fest and expose you for what you are...and I think we both know what that is Zirak.
