...I'm doing your speed chest w/o from last week to see if pl is for me....
 
That's what I hear. How was spatts' explanation? Having just learned that stuff recently, I can't imagine trying to grasp it from just text.

But, I'm kind of a tard that way.

Did you check out the video link? Help at all?

And are you gonna go get yourself some chains?

Spats did a great job - I was a little familiar with some of the stuff - needed help on what was considered Awork....gonna do :

Speed bench
4 board press

seated rows
close bench
military

It's one of my older work sets...first time I figured out leg drive.

Board presses would be kinda tough to do by yourself, I would imagine.

I'm gonna show my ignorance here...

Seated rows? Explain please. Not sure I've done those.

You might be able to see the chains in the video, which may give you a clue. I know there's a post on PL about chains. I'll find it for you.

Speed bench 8 sets of 3 reps at 60% of 1Rm.

then work up to a max triple on the four-board press - ie partial rep stopping 8' above the chest

Assistance:

Seated rows 3 sets of 10(supposed to be 12-15 but I wann keep TUT a little lower)

close bench 3x10

military 3x10

Seated rows ona low pully system......same as bent over bb rows but on a pully system - you can oull the bar high on the sternum and hit exactly where the bar will touch on bench

oh duh. Okay. I gotcha now. I'm so used to working out in Hannibal's garage, I completely forgot those. Was trying to picture how the hell you would do a seated row with dumbbells.

Corn, any chance I could talk you into some accessory work that's going to hit your bench plane better? Like maybe seated power cleans, rolling extensions, and CLOE GRIP seated rows? Close bench will be moot point since your 2nd work set is close grip 4 board.

I do all seated rows with a close grip...I wasn't gonna go with t close grip on the board press...use Ia regular grip so that it just like a lock out....

If that doesn't work...

WHat is a rolling extension??

Cross between a close grip and an extension?

ah - I do those with a bar a lot - I call them kickouts...ok - I'll do those as opposed to the close grips...but...how do those train the same plane as bench - I don't get it?

ROM more applicable to benching than a full rom from a bench.

I thought about those - do them as a replacement for the delts movement?
 
yeah - I meant as a replacemnt for direct anteriotr delts..ok Got it then...if I suck at these I refuse tp post the numbers...just so ya know.:)

Cron...since today is your first attempt at speed bench, you might be better off starting at 45-50%. Just pay close attention to bar speed. It should take no more than 3 seconds to complete all three reps....less than that is better.

Actually, even once you get used to the training...using the lower percentage is a good idea. SPEED!!

Ok - 40% then that's like 160 or so...I have done speed reps once b-4 with 225 it took about 5 seconds for three reps.
