which one is a better buy? Both are suppose to be crazy. Xbox 360 is 399.99 and it comes out 11/22 and the PS 3 is suppose to be between 300-400$ and I think it comes out at spring.

I would have to go with the xbox b/c it gives you options to control tv's and stuff with your laptop and become a tivo if you were into setting up a home media center.
I dont know about the game playing differences since Im not into gaming

PS3. I'm pretty sure that you can't use the old Xbox games with the new Xbox.

:worried: what? I was hoping that I can play the old xbox games on the new one. What a waste of money. When I bought the PS2 I think I was able to play the old console games there.

BB - I dont have a laptop, so I really care only about the gaming

oh, I meant pc interfacing, Im on my laptop so I just referred to a pc as a laptop meaning they all are pcs.
Versatility more than gaming is what Im talking about but PS3 is going to have that stuff as well, just wont run with windows upgrades and new products that they offer on microsoft support, but lots of stuff will come out for sony as well just prolly more expenisive, may actually be better.
If you dont care about that just stick with nintendo

You can play most of your old Xbox game on the new Xbox360. There are a few of the lamer 3rd party games that the Xbox360 is not going to support thought.

I am a hardcore gamer and play almost every second of my free time I got, so I been following to development of these next generation consoles. You will be able to use most of the old xbox games on the new xbox360, there are a few exceptions but u most likely wont be playing these old games anyway. The way I see it if you like your old games bad enough then keep your old xbox you dont need a new 360. from what I have seen from playing it at my local walmart the graphics are top notch. the 360 itself is huge though almost as big as a vcr. The ps3 aka "the piece of shit 3", has a few flaws in my mind of its own. First it has a fuckn boomarang controller wtf is up wit that, its so long that you cant rest your hands on your lap without getting poked in groin by this honkie. Second the game developers for both systems say that the 360 has much more capabilities for making games, but the ps3 will support better graphics then the 360. With all this said I dont care about single player games or graphics that much im into the online play and in this aspect 360 will outshine the ps3 by leaps and bounds.

I played xbox 360 the other day at a kiosk, played king kong. It was fun, but its not as huge of jump as xbox or ps2 was from n64 or ps1. Still amazing, and what's out is only 1st gen games so they're hardly a measure of what's to come. However, I am loyal xbox follower, so I would buy the xbox 360.

If power of a console is an issue to you then you would go with the xbox 360, no question.
If you want superior online play, you would go with xbox 360.
If you want an all round media centre, going beyond the gaming experience, you would go would with an xbox 360.
Customizing is your thing? Xbox 360.

Sony is all hype, just like they were for their ps2, so dont buy into it. They promise more than they can deliver. If you go to any gaming website that has previews for any of these new next gen consoles, you will see that the ps3 trailers of the games blow the xbox360 out of the water in some cases. However, alot of these trailers are not actually game footage and are not actually processed by the actually ps3 itself. If you want a good example of what I mean, there is a transformers or gundam game coming out for it that had a trailer that blew my mind away.

Xbox 360. That's my pick.

It sucks though, I just dont have the time to play games anymore.

you are joking, right? Nintendo? Not even my 3 year old plays Nintendo.

The newest Sims 2 came out. I'm too into that game, got all of them. Was wondering if that one is gonna work with the Xbox 360. My old xbox just broke down and dont feel like paying to repair it, when the new one comes out this month

We have the sim 2. Very good game with lots of upgrades from the first and all of its add-on's. It was 44 bucks canadian, so you cant go wrong with that.

is it as easy as Sims Urbz? The older ones were really fucked up, but the Urbz were fun. The price I think is almost the same - I havent checked but its either 39.99 or 49.99 USD

It's as easy as the first, there's just more involved with this one, so I guess that equates to more planning. Pretty much, it's all the other ones combined and more.

360 as of now is more versitle for PC, networking, etc.
Example: Can use 360 as a wireless extender for XP Media Center.

You can play old games. Most popular ones will be playable on the 360 at launch. Live updates will be produced as time goes by to play other original xbox games.

Sony does not have online play like Microsoft does. Not to the extent anyways.

Good luck finding a 360 anytime before Christmas if you have not preordered...there is legit concern there will be a shortage due to microsoft's global launch of the 360...1st time it's ever been done.

I'm not sure if which one I'm going to get. I love my PS2 and enjoy playing my cousins x-box too. I don't think I would get the Nintendo system. Don't get me wrong, I love the classic nintendo systems but I haven't been impressed by their new stuff passed the 64 which was...so so. Every now and then I love to play the NES and SNES...I love the Ninja Turtles games and Zelda:A Link to the Past.

I'll rather get the playstation 3!

It's all going to depend on what games you like playing and your level of patience before exclusive rights to certain PS3 titles end (i.e. Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy, etc) so the Xbox 360 can make them. Some might not be available ever on any system other than PS3 (Final Fantasy series) or later on the PC. It all boils down to games, as each system is going to be hella powerful enough to give you plenty of eye candy.

I myself played a lot of vg's as a kid but there are few games today that can hold my interest, so I'm going to wait until all the new systems are out before considering buying any of them. Nintendo's new one looks to be the most unique out of the three, using a wireless controller that looks like a tv remote that is motion activated.

As I said before though, it's gonna boil down to what games you want to play, or else buy all three.

is there going to be a halo for xbox360?

yes, halo 3. It was already in the works at the same time as halo 2. Infact, one of the reasons why halo 2 was cut short was to shift the majority of staff and development towards the next gen game.

The games will look almost identical once you start playing it (xbox vs xbox 360) -- a lot of people are gonna feel like idiots.

Nothing in these new systems i've seen will make the games any more exciting and playable. Except the online portion, but that information is scarce in coming, hence jury is still out.

this may be the only reason i buy an xbox360

How about if you figure up how many hours a week you will play it....Then, get a fucking job for those hours, so buff doesn't have to work on the weekends to support you ass.

PS3 - better graphics both than the Xbox 360 and the ps2. This is all sony focused on when they made the ps3.

Xbox- They let their graphics slid a little but they focused mainly on the online portion of the new system, which is great. They are trying to transform the game console into a computer.

My choice Play station 3 will be worth the wait, but in the meantime you can get a ps2, which is going to drop to 99 dollars this christmas.

Actually Microsoft focused more on making the 360 easier to program for. So game developers can easier use the full power of the system which in turn makes for tighter graphics and smoother game play.

Notice that all you have seen for PS3 thus far is cut scenes and animations. No actual game play has been seen.

ID software (Wolfenstein, etc. designers) specifically stated that this fact will match or surpass the minute amount of extra performance the PS3 has.

(now I feel like a geek)

I played a few video games a coupla years ago, had my place in San Luis Obispo set up like a sports bar right downtown so people could play it on my HiDef Tv when the sports werent on while I grilled 100 chicken wings and thighs on my grill over looking the river.
Havent played since, still have the TV and now Im getting a 25foot capable projection that can be run windows media pc based. Meaning, I throw my laptop in my duffle bag and throw a party with a drivein like view. All that stuff has to be interactive or its, this works here, but not there, incompatible this or that.
Going with the xbox means you have another computer for the digital media center. Hook it all up, its amazing. 21st century dude, get with it.
All of this computing power, why limit its applications by going with a PS3 when you can have that run your video and photos albums and surf online on a giant screen wirelessly by remote or whatever.
Xbox, just adds to the megacomputing system. PS3 for neophytes, xbox will answer your phone and run your a/c and appliances by voice command while your a hundred miles away

Can you tell me what xbox actually does when used as an extender of XP Media Center? I can't seem to find a straight answer on this question.

can i put one on layaway at wal mart or do you have to buy it. Its comes out at wal mart here on nov 18 at 12:01 AM. Im thinking of getting 3 or 4 and selling it on ebay for cash when they sell out .

Here's a dirty secret. ready?

Microsoft has MORE than enough units manufactured to meet the demand. But they _purposely_ restrict supply at the beginning, just to build a euphoria, force people to line up at 12am and create lovely news stories about the "big demand sold-out status" of xbox units.

Great advertising and makes it seem so sought after and desirable.

A few weeks later -- once the euphoria has died down -- and the mom/daddy shoppers start buying gifts for xmas -- a shitload of xbox 360's will be released to meet the demand. Microsoft knows that if you don't meet the demand -- that's lost profits. No one wants to buy xbox 360's on jan 2nd so shipping them out then will be kinda pointless.

I'll just wait 3 weeks then drive up to walmart and buy one off the shelf. la dee da.

what are you gonna do with the 4 you've already pre-ordered? :D

I believe that PS3, based on the history thus far of the previous products will be the one that makes you happy.
