I always read Sgt Rock, Nam, Weird War Stories, Avengers, and Spiderman. Not all Marvel, but good ones.
One question I have is how the hell could ONE bad guy give the Avengers such grief when they had powerhouses like Thor, Namor, She Hulk, Wonder Man, Hercules, etc.. on the team? And powerful members like Capt marvel, Vision, and Scarlett Witch. But ONE bad guy could literally hand them their ass each issue.
Another thing I wondered about was why the hell did they ever tolerate members like Hawkeye, Black panther, Capt America, Moon Knight, etc.. you know.. heros with a "talent" and "enhanced reflexes and training" but no real power or abilities. How many times did a team member have to make a detour in a fight to shield these guys or catch them when they fell from out of the sky or off a building.....
I think Marvel hits it's low point back when they were cloning and duplicating all their heros and villian. Thor and Thunderstrike. Venom and Carnage. Spiderman and Scarlet Spider. Green Hulk and Gray Hulk. Capt America and U.S. Agent. Green Goblin/Hobgoblin/Demogoblin/etc.., Iron Man and War machine, etc.....
The Xmen USED to be a good comic. You had nice fights and action in it. Then for some reason, it changed, you opened it up and it was like a damn soap opera. More dialog and conversation than action. Too much talking for my tastes. Their story of the Morlock Massacre had to be the best one for me.
P.S. Juggenaut kicked ass. you would have figured he would have found a way to keep his fucking helmet on.
P.S.S. the early years of SPAWN were fucking awesome. Back when each story had a "moral" and "Theme". Like when he fell out of the sky after his battle with Heaven and ended up protecting the two brothers from their abusive alcoholic father. Then he protected the family from the KKK. And then he attacked Heaven Inc., and they portrayed God as a feeble old lady. Great stuff. Now it is just a bunch of dark nonsense.
