WTF gas prices

Buddy_Christ

New member
25 fucking dollars to fill up my Civic today.

A FUCKING CIVIC!!!

$2.34/gallon for 89 octane. 10.6 Gallons.

This time last year it cost me $25 to fill up my S-10 Blazer that got 1/2 the gas milage the Civic does.

And to those of you with gas guzzling SUVs and Trucks that want to bitch about gas prices, BUY A MORE EFFICIENT CAR OR STFU.

I should trade in my Civic for one of the Civic hybrids. You can get almost 50mpg out of them.

How about those new civic bicycles. I heard they get goood millage.

If I didn't have a 22 mile commute each way to school, I'd find alternative forms of transportation.

No public transportation around here either, so that's out of the question.

Yeah Id like a small car, but being 240lbs and 6' tall doesnt really help me any. I have to drive 30 to 40min to work and I need to be comfortable. If prices keep going the way they do tho I might have to stop the lifting and go on the Brad Pitt diet so i can drive a mini cooper.lol

Yesterday's fill up.

Yep....I predict an expensive summmer. Last year it cost $425.00 to fill the boat on the water.....this year it will be closer to $550.00 :chomp:

Why do you use 89 in a car that will run fine on 87?

I've never put 87 in it actually. It's been running on 89 since the day I got it. I think it's one of those "if it's going in her Civic it's running in MY Civic" type deals. If we put 87 in her car, it stinks to high hell. 89 clears it right up.

Who is bitching? I am smiling. Gas is about $2.69/ gallon here.
That reminds me I have to turn in my expense reports.

Thanks Crak.

And a Civic wouldn't make it up most of these rig roads, I like my truck and planning on getting a new, bigger, gas guzzling monster in the near future.

Teh Cibic can nevar loose. ;)

Sounds like someone else is paying for your gas. I'd be running the highest octane availible if that were the case.

I am glad the weather has been nice as of late. I have been riding the cycle a lot more and saving a lot on gas.

Try it.

My Civic is a 1991, with high mileage, and it still runs fine on 87. Anything more is just flushing money down the toilet. Yours is an '03, right? It's not old enough to have the sort of combustion chamber deposits that would make a small engine "need" 89.

And if hers "needs" 89, then what it really needs is a trip to the mechanic's.

Well, I'm 240 @ 5'10" and I fit in a CRX just fine. How many small cars have you actually tried to fit yourself into? I think this is a misconception that big guys need big cars. Many smaller cars are quite accomodating for large drivers. The VW Golf and Beetle in particular are known to be a good fit for fat guys, so a muscle dude oughtta fit with ease.

OMG at start of lunch when I filled up it was 87.3 cents a L one my way back to work I notice the same gas sation is at 83.3 cents a L :redhot:

Very true but most guys use there car as an extention for lacking in other areas ;)

Trading in my 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 p/u last summer for my 2005 Corolla is making me look like a fucking genius!!!

Yes, mine is an 03. I'll try 87 one of these fillups.

Hers stinks to hell (rotten egg smell) when we run 87 in there but if we put 89 in there, it clears up. Talked to a friend about it (who is PA state emmisions certified) who said if 89 clears it up then just let it go. It's a 96 with 94K miles.

Oh, the big guys need big cars thing...my sister's last bf had a mid 90s Civic 4 door. He was 6'2" (skinny as hell, but that's tall) and he had no comfort issues in the car at all from his height. A friend of mine years ago was about 6' and drove an early 90s Mazda 323 and he had no issues with his height either. Another guy I knew was about 5'8-9" and 210-ish (kinda chubby dude) and he drove a 92 Integra for years. A lot of small and mid-sized cars are roomy as hell. I've got the seat pretty far back in my Civic and I'm only 5'6", but there's still room for it to go back further. I typically drive with the seat further back than most people though.

I drove a base model 05 Corolla and I was pretty impressed. Car has quite a bit of get up and go for 130hp and 130 lb ft of torque.

Didn't care for the dash though, so I went with the Civic. Pretty comfy though. Both cars fit my family of 4 no problem.

So true that it's scary.

Gf's mother and stepfather had a late 90s Exploder and a Focus wagon. The Exploder started having trans problems, so they traded it in on a brand new one. She was driving the Exploder most of the time because he goes all over the state for work on a regular basis. Within 3 months they traded in the Focus and he got a Ranger. He's a pansy too. Hell, he's such a damn pansy that when my gf's sister, who will be 27 this year and still lives at home, got a new car, she kicked him out of the garage so she could park her car in there. Sorry, but if my daughter was still living at home at 27 and she told me to park outside so her car could go in the garage, I'd throw her out. Hell, my kids won't be living at home at that age unless they fall into a nasty situation that they'd be living on the streets otherwise.

Do you have long legs for your height? I'm 5'10" but I only have a 30" inseam, so my legs are relatively short for my height, and my seat isn't scooted back particularly far. It'll go back far enough that I can't reach the pedals at all.

About a 30" inseam, depending on who made the pants. I like to have the seat back far enough that when I push the clutch to the floor, my leg is almost straight. I've been like this ever since I started driving 5spds.

I also have a seat height adjustment and it's all the way down. The seat is tilted and moved far enough back that the headrest is behind the pillar separating the doors, yet I still feel like I'm sitting pretty upright. I'm comfortable driving like that.
