WTF are these spots??

last summer, i went tanning using a tanning bed, to pre-tan before vacation as to not got burnt. I ended up getting burnt in the bed anyway.
anyway, on to the point. after tanning and burning, and up until this day with my tan nearly completely faded, i have spots or speckles on my chest and on my back that are like palish or white and untanned. what are these spots? has any1 ever experienced this? could this be skin cancer or what?
i have an appointment with a dermatologist in about 3 weeks but im looking to see if any1 has info on this or has experienced this.

could it be that i was taking an anti-acne medication that states not to be exposed to sunlight or artificial sunlight? if so, will they go away?

thanks in advance for any help

Should've gone with the spray tan in that case orbly. I'm no dermatologist though...Hope you get good news when you go. I know that medications and such can increase your sensitivity to the effects of UV rays & the like. Good luck.

Do they get whiter when you get tanner? Maybe keritosis?(sp) if so i believe it is harmelss. I had the same things on my arms and asked one of the ER docs at work and he said it was harmless if I remember correctly. I know i didnt freak out with his answer so it must have been benign.

yeah when i get tan they just stay really white, i just read online that its most likely a fungus and just to get a script for anti fungal or to put athletes foot cream on it, so hopefully that works for me. ill still head to the doc to make sure tho...

thanks for the replies guys

Semen does show up under certain lighting.

I know several people that have had the same thing but with different causes.
Living in Arizona this shit is common.
Had a friend of hispanic, native American, white back ground(dark complection) and when he tanned he had WHITE SPOTS that were so white it was crazy!!! He went to the doctor and it was fungus.
Most likely it is sun damaged skin or fungus.
Hyperpigmentation will be a dark spot and thats not good.
vitiligo very rare not likely.

Oh wait... If the spots are raised at all and I mean at all demand to see a doctor NOW because some pre skin cancer starts out as small white dots but they are raised.

See your doctor bro nothing to fuck around with.

Take care bro

Ya that is a fungus and ya you can get it from dirty tanning beds . Nizoril shampoo will kill it in a couple of weeks . lather it up on your skin and let it sit for like 15 minutes everyday . Make sure you get your scalp real good too or it will just keep coming back . Seems like I get that stuff at least once a year . You have to clean out the tanning beds yourself before you get in them . Selson Blue will kill it as well but it takes a little longer ...
