Wrecked my bike today

YAKUZA

New member
Went riding with two of my buddies today. One on a R6 and one on a GSXR1000, and me on the GSXR750. The dude on the 1000 is a roadracer, so when we get together we always get nuts. We went and found some good twisties to rip it up on. Top speed of the day was 164MPH (digital speedo) and never any less than 90 thru the real tight bends. I just had new brakes put on at the shop, and this was the first time riding with them on. Came up to a sharp left at about 115MPH, and when I started braking, the fronts completely locked up. The rear tire was about three foot in the air and still rising fast when the caliper decided to unlock again. I rode the front tire about ten yards (past the turn) and into some lady's front yard. The rear tire finally came back down, but I was headed for a big a*s tree. There's no turning a streetbike in grass at 155, but I tried anyways. I got highsided and tossed right off the damn thing. When I picked it back up, the caliper was locked up again. Couldn't move the damn thing. Bike's mangled, I'm pissed, and I'm gonna kill the dude at the shop if they don't pay to fix the damn thing. I'm gonna talk to a lawyer and see if I have a case. I'm assuming it would be pretty hard to prove they screwed my calipers up, which in turn almost killed me. This sucks bad....

Nah, I've done it twice before:) Those times were my fault though. What can I say, I'm durable....

I do kind of feel like I got hit by a bus though. LOL

LOL, the 155 in the end is a typo. See the beginning where it said 115, it was in the area of that speed. Believe me, I got TOSSED. LOL Hitting grass doesn't really hurt that bad. I lucked out and didn't break any bones, and you can't get roadrash from grass. A few scrapes and bruises is all.. If I'd hit cement, they'd be scraping parts of me up from three different counties.

I went much farther than the bike did, it dug into the dirt and stopped quicker than I thought it would. My buddies were also in shock of how well I came out of it. I'm well aware of how fortunate I am, but it still makes interesting chit-chat. I always say I'm gonna save the speed for the track, but it never happens. LOL Maybe afte this one I'll calm it down a little.....

Nowhere even remotely close to the house. It was "country" roads, and the houses were set back in pretty far. I was pretty worried about hitting the tree though, but I went right past it:) Sorry, I have a sense of humor about these things as long as I'm not in traction..

Weird part is, when I called my girlfriend, she knew I wrecked already. I asked her how, and she said she had a dream about it the night before. Here's the real weird thing, when I wrecked my 600 two years ago, she had a dream before I did that one too. I'm gonna start asking her if it's safe for me to go ride. LOL

Sorry to hear about your buddy, glad he lived though. He make a full recovery??

man that really sucks,i would think if you had teh reciept for the work they did then you could probably take them to court for it ,if they dont agreee to fix it out of court

Judge Joe Brown lol

That was intelligent.

Talk to a lawyer about a case? WTF case do you have? "Your honor I was riding my bike at 3 times the speed limit and it broke!" You're already going to spend a shit load to fix your bike (why should the shop fix it for you free?). Don't waste any more money on legal fees just to have the judge laugh at you.

It dont matter how fast you were going man, it doesnt give the mechanic an excuse for shoddy workmanship. The only possible reason for your locking up i can think of is the mechanic has put one of your pistons in at an angle.

However, warik is right. A judge will take one look at the facts and laugh your case out of court unfortunately.
Unless he`s a biker!

What does your friend say about the gixxer 1000, ive just sold my gix 6 and lookin to get a 1000

Hope it works out for you man

BigPhysicsBastard,

Agreed in regard to bike speed; however, they were meant to be driven at those speeds on tracks and shit. Tracks are designed differently than normal roads. Notice those NASCAR tracks how they have wide, inclined turns? It's simple physics (hehe). Turn at those high speeds on wrong type of surface = boom.

Since he was riding on a regular, local street it seems, I think he wouldn't have a case. He was clearly in violation of the law.
