Wow, do I miss New York...

You can't mistake "I have a goal and I'm going to achieve it, goddamnit" for being rude. They got shit to do and it's gonna get done. Nothing wrong with that.

That's it, that's it exactly - well said.

I think rude people would be rude regardless of where they were raised or choose to live.

anyway, although i'm not active beyond my workouts, i might as well vouch for whatever activities the NYC area has available. dude, clubbin? is that all you're crediting NY for when it comes to an active lifestyle?

I do read them, nerd.

Like I clarified....They aren't rude, just a little abrasive for my tastes.

lol. It's too fucking hot in the summer. Go in the Fall. By far my favorite time in the city

also, please don't give too much credit to NYers for being on the move, with purpose, gotta get that paper, etc. i'm not a NYer, but i have a well-established impression of people in this world, certainly including the city. and it's not such a great one. that impression includes laziness, being caught up in themselves or in routine, or inability-unwillingness to stop/think/take a moment. i am guilty of (some of) these as well.

in other words, if i spot a typical new yorker on his way somewhere, and he's moving fast, possibly in a rush, etc...there ain't no way in damned hell that i'm giving him the benefit of the doubt. my view of the world tells me that he's probably in a rush because he's used to being in one, and that he's an impatient fuck. if he stopped for a moment, or slowed down, it would almost certainly cost him approximately nothing.

Well said. See....I read them.

The irony of my posts in this thread is, once while I was back in college I wrote very long, very heated letter to Rick Reilly (sports illustrated) after he wrote a piece essentially hating on everything NYC in general (and Yankee fans in specific lol) implying "we" were a bunch of rude, peanut spitting jailbirds. He actually wrote back complimenting me on my well written response and apologizing that it was too long to publish. I think I even said, "That guy who won't talk to you in the grocery store - he's not rude, he just has things to do."

The more time I spent away from NYC, though, the more I realized I guess how much it clashed with me.
