Wow, do I miss New York...

Like I clarified....They aren't rude, just a little abrasive for my tastes.

like the joke about the exasperated tourist in NYC who goes up to somebody and asks "excuse me, can you tell me how to get to Grand Central, or should I just go fuck myself?"

also, please don't give too much credit to NYers for being on the move, with purpose, gotta get that paper, etc. i'm not a NYer, but i have a well-established impression of people in this world, certainly including the city. and it's not such a great one. that impression includes laziness, being caught up in themselves or in routine, or inability-unwillingness to stop/think/take a moment. i am guilty of (some of) these as well.

in other words, if i spot a typical new yorker on his way somewhere, and he's moving fast, possibly in a rush, etc...there ain't no way in damned hell that i'm giving him the benefit of the doubt. my view of the world tells me that he's probably in a rush because he's used to being in one, and that he's an impatient fuck. if he stopped for a moment, or slowed down, it would almost certainly cost him approximately nothing.

I still think it's an individual thing - I was raised in the city and while I dislike standing in line as much as anyone else, walking (or driving) behind someone that obviously doesn't know where the hell they're going and is oblivious that they are holding everyone else up and yes, I want service fast, efficiently and effectively but even after I've lost my patience I can maintain some kind of calm and understanding for a period of time. I have friends that "boo hiss" when the evil "city" is mentioned and they are some of the more obnoxious impatient verbal f**ks I've ever come across and these are "country" folk.

My best friend was born in Argentina and move to eastern LI NY during grade school and she is the most impatient person I have ever known - and she make no bones about it in at least 2 different languages and loud enough for CT to know about it.

NYC itself has this incredibly energy to it and I believe that is what many people pick up on - the people that happen to on the streets are just secondary, kinda like props.

BAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!

:chomp:

Thinking of moving to a bigger city, I just don`t kow where I`d like to go. Cali, Arizona and New York make my short list, but I kinda need someplace family friendly.

New York is the ONLY place to live. Top notch food, women, clothes, drinks, clubs, bars, etc... The cost of living is high but WELL WORTH IT!
Hope to Welcome You Back Soon!

..and i've decided i'm moving back up here in 1-2 years.

My weekend get away to NYC then the hamptons made me really realize how much i miss the city, especially in the summertime. There really is no other place like it, anywhere. Fuck florida...ideal situation is a house up north w. a vacation spot in miami.

normal, real people(this is the biggest thing)....
tough/strong headed girls
always something to do
great public transportation
just an amazing vibe, that i completey forget about

i was driving into Soho after i flew into Newark and it hit me all of a sudden.

you ever go to a city and your personality changes? when i'm here or in NJ, i'm more warm, friendly, real..because i can relate to everyone i guess.

now if i can only get past the $2500 a month for a 500 sq foot studio in Manhatten...

Did i mention I LOVE NYC girls???

their walk
their style (which is usually their own mix...not some bullshit trend)
that "don't fuck with me unless you have something important to say" look
the fact alot of them are classy (some are stuck up, but often its pride/class)

Was sitting at a french restaurant outside in Chelsea earlier today before i left w/ my cousin and his friend friend and i was making eye contact with almost every girl that walked by. quite a few held it and did NOT Break it. most girls in other places get super timid, or will look away and look back. nope, not NYC girls

i need to get away from these ghetto miami girls. even the model girls are fuckin ghetto trash at heart. worst mistake i ever made was dating these whores. ruined my life. my wife will DEFINETELY not be from miami

Argentines are the biggest snobs in the entire world (right up there with the french). some are nice people, but still snobby.
If they act up, i usually call them out on the fact they're just fake wannabe italians. italians are not that snooty

they do make a MEAN steak though :p :p :p

NYC is great. I live just over the hudson, go to the city often, but Ill tell ya I hate all the traffic there.

Its like anything else has its +/-. It depends on what you want in life. The thing with NYC is that if you want to get away from it all, all you have to do is drive north an hour or 2 and there is plenty of trees/mountains so you can do alot of other things that the city dosent have.

I thought about moving out to either arizona or cali for a change, but not sure if im willing to do it yet. Wish I did though when I was in my early 20's
