My cat needed emergency surgery (again) to relieve a blocked urinary tract. It is going to cost me over 1k to save cow's life...

would you do it?

Btw this will put his medical bills over 3k in the last 5 years..

i dont know if id spend that much on a chick
wtf

how much time are you buying for the cat, exactly?

if its a young cat youre really attached to, then...alright. if its an older cat thats set up with some other problem around the corner, then...no.

yes considering i paid $450 for my precious Cheetah. and i've already spent another $215 getting her fixed. She is the only cat i've ever seen that loves to play fetch and she is very beautiful just look at her. she is a bengalcat.

People are crazy, My aunt has spent well over 4k on surgeries for her little dog, which is only about 2-3 years old. Lil guy keeps breaking bones and whatnot just walking around.

If I was lonely and the pet was like my only friend, then yeah. Otherwise, hell nah!

If the cat's prognosis for a full recovery is good, then yes. If it's just buying the animal a few more months of painfil existence, then no.

ok yeah here is some more detail

the cat is 5

i had the cat since the day it was born

with the surgery the cat will live a normal painfree life but may require a surgery that would open up the urethra a bit more to prevent further blockages.

i do not have the money in my pocket but it is not going to kill me either to spend it..like i couldnt just up and spend 1g on a vacation right now.. and wont for a while after this but who knows..and who cares.. cow needs to live!!!

if it was a cat I loved and it wasn't like 15 years old already.. then sure.

I'd never have a cat though, I'm more of a dog person.

cow is the best :Perk:

I don't have a cat, but yes I would spend that much on one of my dogs.

On the subject of your cat, you should check with starfish. I think that her cat had the same thing, and she had to put him on a special food that would dissolve the crystals in his urinary tract.

I psent 2k on my Rott once...its all about whats important to us as individuals

i might spend 500 on my dog. i'd spend about 75 cents on the cat and buy a bullet. unless it was a kitty cat, then i'd spare it (but i still wouldn't spend $5 on it)

that pic was taken at a celebration party .. everyone had hats on and he wanted to blend in..

anyway.. yeah im nuts but my fat cat is doing good.. the first day i visited him in the hospital he was still pretty messed up.. well not too bad but very lazy and no purring at all :( then yesterday when i visited him he was doing really good.. purring walking around and looked like he good go home then even though they are going to keep him another day or 2.

HE'S BACK!!!!!

My ex and I found a stray black cat that couldn't have been more than 2 years old, he was beautiful. Long story short, he had a battle wound that we didn't notice. He was weezing one night so we took him to the animal hospital and they said that it would cost upwards of $4000 to do the tests and he might die anyway. So we decided to end his suffering. It was the hardest thing I ever had to go through and we only had him for a month.

ouch that sux sooo bad. no one should really be put in that situation

I just recently went through this. Fatass was diagnosed with chronic renal failure in late May. At the time, she was 16.5 years old. CRF is terminal, but you can extend their lives with medication and iv fluids from a few weeks to a few years.

And that is what I did. Every day I gave her medication, and 200cc of lactated ringers through an 18g needle. Toward the end, she went blind, but was still extremely functional, and still happy. However shortly after that, she would no longer eat and her back legs didn't really want to work for her anymore. The following day was when I decided enough was enough - and Fatass was gone at the end of August. Soometimes I still think I hear her walking around the house. I miss that cat.

The total cost of all the vet visits, blood work, medical supplies, and special food was about $2,000.

I would do it again in a second.

You're not the first weight lifter I've encountered who bred Persian cats.

i was about to buy a persian if i couldn't find a bengal. i lucked out and went to a local cat show where i found my baby. she was the only one left and i got her for about 200-400 dollars cheaper than the average prices that i have seen. she has turned out to be the best pet i've had.
