Would this result in overtraining?

I normally do 3 days a week of lifting...one for chest/tri's, one for back/bi's and the last is shoulders/legs. Well today I went for the last day, however I was late to the gym and could only do shoulders and abs. If I go do legs tomorrow, without the normal rest in between days, and then take a 2 day rest after that (which I normally do), would that be overtraining in anyway?

thanks in advance

yeah youll be fine, overtraining is usually long term, its not bad to go outta routine once in a while, your muscles need to keep "guessing", you will be fine

You'll overtrain if you do same bodypart more once per week. Say biceps for example, if you train them on monday and do them the next day, you'll probably overtain them. And if you involve them on wednesday in any way, say if you're doing back, then you'll definately overtain them. I've done it, I know the pain, and this shit lasts for 2 months.

really, i do a my bi's and tri's twice a week, not consecutively, but two to three days apart, and theyve responded well, then again, i do require a lot of volume to grow. but yes if you train bi's three days in a row thats a no no

Not everyone is the same. I'm a good example of just the opposite of your theory.

You have to learn to know your own body...and that takes time.

So you're saying you can do 20sets of biceps one day, and then the next you wont overtain?

Who said anything about 20 sets? That's such an extreme amount of sets. To do that many is ridiculous. I train my entire body 2x a week and I don't overtrain at all.

20 sets! :FRlol:

You know...I can also do 1 set of 10 on curls with the 11's, 3x a day, every day, and undertrain.

Goodness...what an example to use for an arguement...

uhhh on my heavy bicep days i do 17 sets, and they havent been sore in years, but then again my whole body requires a great deal of volume to grow

yeah, its all about listening to your body. i have a really really hard time overtraining my bis. i can lift them 5 times a week at high volume, or low volume. it doesnt even matter to them. the only thing that can get them sore and needing rest is bunnyhopping a bike for a few hours, but thats only if i havent ridden hard for two weeks or more.

its all relative. i wish i could shock my bis easier. then they would grow better instead of just being strong. at least i get a hard flex, eh?

You can lift them 5 times a week at high volume? At how many sets? Have you even tried doing biceps 5times a week? I doubt it.

its called riding bmx, mountain bike, rock climbing, breakdancing, and going to the gym constantly. they just dont get sore. im sure if i lifted 5 days a week AND went riding and climbing every day i could get some serious overtraining issues- or at least tendonitis. at this point i think i dont have muscle there, but a big tendon.

as far as sets and reps with weight, low weight and high reps dont do shit but make them tired after a while, like 4x10s. high weights and low reps like a 10x3 just doesnt do much for my biceps either- even near failure they dont feel stressed, just tired.

now, i may have been a little overzeous about stating 5x a week bicep training wouldnt do shit to me, but i have truly never been able overtrain biceps with lifting weights alone. i have done 4x a week curls along with biking and climbing. i think that my strength could have been much stronger with more rest, but my endurance at bodyweight was all that mattered, and thats a whole nother topic.

theres one part that i overtrain very easily, my top traps. they get sore and weak just thinking aabout lifting.

This is the most important thing for people to learn about training, everybody is different. What is over training for me might be under training for someone else. Learn to listen to your body and you will make progress. :)
