actually, the guy is for real - and he is japanese.

He trained in Seidokaikan for a few years, and now runs his own thing. his karate then, and now, is terrible, and runs special "seminars" aimed at toughening up younger fighters.

he is clearly a moron, and would get wiped form any decent knock down karate fighter.

people actually pay money to attend these things.

I practice my form like crazy
but when I get to sparring it's just like I didn't practice it at all
I guess that either takes time or just never really does get spot on

I know , huh ! Like he looked Chinese ? Phil Nurse runs a GREAT MT class in NYC and hes a skinny lil black Brit ! I Train in CMA but Im a Giant Jamaican !

Look at what they were doing , not what they look like .

I trained at Phil's for a while. He is good people, I'll probably run into him at The Capitale on Friday. Derek is on the card, he is always cool to watch.

I need a babysitter for Friday night... Dammit!

Sparring takes time to get acustomed to, one rule you must always use, eye contact at all times.

Very good advice. So simple yet so many new guys don't practice it.
Don't take your eyes off your opponent. When guarding or ducking hooks try not to lose sight of his hands and movement. Just keeping your eyes on the guy will icrease your fighting ability tremendously.

a good trick is to actually keep your eyes on their shoulders/hips, and not their eyes. too many guys get caught up looking at the eyes - the shoulders will always tell you is he going to puch soon.

I tend toward watching the torso
but really you can take in all of the other guy unless you are Clinching
but problem is flinching I havn't spared in months which sucks cus I was just starting to eek past that problem

in my sport i watch the hips and the feet.. at the hands for grip fighting
