adios portugal, i feel sorry for those excellent soccer player
(normally) but the red card against 2 players was too hard to
compensate. now if i'm not wrong, will be mexico-usa! a very hot
match imo, not only from the sport side. ttokkyo vs btg, lol.

Quite right.

Mexico is playing great and they are the better side. But the U.S. is very comfortable playing Mexico and will be playing with no fear.

I feel bad for Portugal but they play as individuals and not asa team. Korea took it to them the entire game including when they were playing at full strength. I still think it's a choking job on their part. All they needed was a tie and they couldn't get it.

The US really showed their colors today. THEY STINK! USA/Mexico know each other well but i don't see the US coming out on top.

Italy/Korea should be a great game but i don't see how they'll score against an Italian defense when they couldn't score on 5 breakaways at the end and most of the second half against 2 defenders. We will see!

i hope you will be right with your statement. it's not easy to play
against corea even if they are not able to create many goal chances. their spirit together with the supporters is the dangerous part of them. i hope, italy will score in the first 45 minutes.

I don't know that that's entirely fair. It's hard to draw any conclusions in a game like that when one side goes up 2 goals in the first 5 minutes. The disallowed goal was as ridiculous as those that were disallowed in the Italy-Croatia game and it would have changed the outcome of the game entirely.

I don't know what you can say about the U.S. trying to score on 10 withdrawn Polish players for 85 minutes. I think we would have shown well if the game had been 1-1 after the fourth minute, rather than 2-0 after the fifth minute. And we were playing with 3 defenders from the 20th minute on.

Anyway, it's over. The U.S. is incredibly fortunate but I maintain Portugal have no one to blame but themselves.

agreed 100%

Only the first 5 Min was a Clinic given by Poland to the US defenders in the Middle.

I was like "WHAT WAS THAT Mr. KEEPER ?"

I thought as Mentioned earlier that after Poland was up by 2 they simply played defense and Collapsed in front of the Goal whenever the ball came into the Box. Blocking any long shots.

Great Ball Movement by the American Mid fielders.
Unbelievable fast breaks by the Polish forwards straight down the middle.

Lots of good 50-50 plays with some pushing and fighting for the ball especailly in the corners of the field..

I am dissappointed in the Loss but I would Strongly disagree that the US players Stunk after the first 5 of the game.

I think they were asleep. Then they woke up and said "WHAT JUST HAPPENED" ?

I think any team that has their fate in their hands to advance and doesn't take that opportunity really isn't that great a team. The US needed at least a tie yet by the end were depending on Korea to beat Portugal. If Portugal would have scored then it's bye bye USA.

Look at Belgium, they knew they needed a win and played for one against a good Russian team. Look at Paraguay, Denmark, Sweden..they know what it takes to advance. The US got through on luck and they will get smoked by Mexico.

Agreed, and we're nowhere close to being a great team.

But surely there's a bit of luck involved, isn't there? Poland's first goal was just one of those scrambles in front of the goal after a corner. Sometimes they're shot wide and sometimes they go in. Olisadebeh's shot just barely went in... that's the way it goes. But then Donovan tied it two minutes later, except the Chinese referee wrongly called a foul on Donovan. That's just bad luck, and since Poland got their second goal on the restart, that's the match right there. It was all over from that point forward, especially since the Poles played the rest of the match with everyone back, like it was the most important game in thier history.

You were saying much the same thing after the Italy-Croatia match. You can't overcome unfairly disallowed goals, that's all there is to it.

As for getting smoked by Mexico, I doubt it. We frustrate the hell out of Mexico. Berhalter will be playing for Agoos and Mexico doesn't like playing bigger teams.

I'm actually perfectly happy with a Mexico win. We don't deserve to make the quarterfinals, and I hope Mexico goes on to the semifinals.

First: The last 3 minutes of Italy-Mexico were definitely pathetic. I feel for those who paid the big price to be at the Stadium. This wasnt profesional at all.

Now Portugal out ? Not very surprised considering the fact they were not playing as a team. Also Portugal was highly overratted. Yes they have Figo but damn did you see him ?

Argentina ? Hell thats a surprise. Even more than France. They had everything (except maybe a good goalkeeper). On the paper they were the best team. But again when every player plays for himself the team suffers....
