why is my cable internet so slow?

i dont know what the fuck is going on, but my cable connection is SLOW AS SHIT.

it was working fine until i tried setting up port forwarding, and now it has gone to shit. i even tried resetting all of the default settings on the router, and it still sucks.

help me.

don't knwo if you have tried this cuz it's pretty obvious, but unplug the modem and any router you may have.

shut down your computer.

plug in the modem, wait till it connects, plug in the router, wait till it's good, then turn on computer.

no, it's definitely not spyware, because it's affecting the 3 different computers hooked up to the network.

it's only been bad this past week.

i have restored the default settings, unplugged and rebooted the system, turned off any and all firewalls, and even did a hard reset.

it's still slow as balls.

it only speeds up for 5 minutes after i first reset the router. than it goes back to shit.

try doing speed tests at dslreports or something like that.

Check with a traceroute/pings to see if you are having some rotten lags somewhere along the way - maybe their network is getting upgraded and causing some slowdowns.
