Why do white people act like all blacks think the same?

One need look no further than Bo-den and Longhorn85 to disprove that theory.

Unfortuantely that kind of thinking isn't along the lines of skin color. It's along the lines of any defined separation of ideas. All liberals think the same. All pickyourowngrouphere think the same. blah blah blah.

Why do blacks generalise about whites just because one white generalised about blacks?

If the search function worked worth a shit I could rebut that one in milliseconds.

I dont know dial tone, but I live in an apartment and if I ever have black neighbors again, I will shoot myself.

All the black "stereotypes" exist in the apartment next door.

With that said, I understand that "not all black people are the same".

Longhorn is a unique occurance...not to many blacks in the GOP.

To answer your thread title simply...whites think blacks have a racial agenda that commonly binds them to one another.

Because all humans make assumptions and create stereotypes. That's part of how we make sense of our world.

It's a natural extension of the things the human brain does to organize information. We start creating categories and making generalizations from the time we're toddlers. It's actually something we need to unlearn almost on a case-by-case basis as we encounter acceptions.

How?

I am white and I do not generalise about black people. So your general statement about white people was as bad as any by a white person generalising about blacks. What is there to rebut?

Its a case of the kettle calling the pot uuuhhhhhh black.

Why do Brits use 's' instead of 'z' when it's clear that you should be using the 'z'?

And what the fuck is with them using colour instead of color?!?!?!

Is this somehow related to their lack of dental visits?

I did that intentionally to emphasize how silly it is....apparently lost on you.

Wrong! Stereotypes don't come out of thin air, sweetheart. Most are generalizations and a bit over the top, but have some substance nonetheless. Stereotypes come from observations. I have been stereotyped and admit that most had substance and some truth to them.

Wow, an extremely broad statement. Please enlighten us by outlining some of the stereotypes regarding blacks that in your opinion hold water.

blacks distrust the GOP

most blacks drop out of public school

1 in 4 blacks are somehow invovled in the judical system (probation, jail, etc)

Nice try, jagoff. How about this, why don't you and everybody else here stop trying to play Johnny "I took psych 101 in college" and drop the PC bullshit. So you are telling me that you have never met a fat black woman that was extremely loud, had an attitude, and spoke very poor English? Are you telling me that you have never met a gold-chain wearing Italian who was very hairy and spoke with his hands a lot? YOu are from Jersey, right? You don't know any Italians like this? Take a walk through fucking Bay Ridge and then talk to me about stereotypes. I am not saying they are right, or 100% dead on, but most do not come out of thin air and you are fucking ignorant and a PC robot if you think they do.

The 1 in 4 would be a statistic not a stereotype. In order to be a stereotype it must imply that most (meaning more than half) of them are a certain way. It also appears to be true due to research then it would also be a statistic.

I have also seen small dicked white guys filled with senseless rage because his girl was pumped long and hard by some big black prick and she was dumb enough to tell him about the experience.

But I don't stereotype all white guys by you.

Ironic that you should mention 8th grade in your response

ran·dom ( P ) Pronunciation Key (rndm)
adj.
(1)Having no specific pattern, purpose, or objective: random movements. See Synonyms at chance.
(2)Mathematics & Statistics. Of or relating to a type of circumstance or event that is described by a probability distribution.
(3)Of or relating to an event in which all outcomes are equally likely, as in the testing of a blood sample for the presence of a substance.

Since I intentionally and deliberately targeted you for abuse, it can't be described as random. Thus concludes the remedial vocabulary lesson.

Curious, where do you work and what do you do?

Finally!!

Curiousity is a start. Next you have to discover the relevant questions to ask. Finally you acquire knowledge. It's a long journey friend, but you've finally stepped on the path.

I agree with SSS, it's the same for straights, as in: why do all gays act/think alike?

and vice versa, there is some heterophbia in the gay community

I didnt suggest stereotypes "come out of thin air". And they are ALL generalizations, that's part of the definition of a stereotype. Sharing that you've been stereotyped is extraneous.....we've all been steretyped by someone at sometime. What does that have to do with my previous post?

Based on your response I suspect you didnt actually understand my post.

actually, I understood it very well (even though I just looked back for a refresher and it was edited this morning...). My point is that you were making explanations (or excuses) as to why stereotypes exist, but you never mentioned that many stereotypes, at their root, come from truths. And I threw in that I have been stereotyped just for some background, and partly b/c I expected you to play the race card, as you have done in the past (which may not be a fair assessment on my part).

All stereotypes have some reason, true or not, for their existence.

Are Mexicans lazy? A good friend's father is a damn hard working cop. But she's a lazy slob. The only other mexican I've known decided to quit working all together while in the middle east.

Do blacks live off welfare? Of my black friends, one is a mathematician for the government, one is a lawyer, one is a programmer and the other plays in the NFL.

Are jews rich and miserly? I have one jewish friend and he doesn't have two nickels to rub together. His parents are wildly rich though.

But if everyone can be frank for a moment and suspend the need for being politically correct, we can all see where the sterotypes stem from.

No I wasnt excusing people tendency to stereotype, only offering one alternative explanation for why we all do it. And I did indirectly address the issue of some truth existing at the root of stereotype.....that's the generalization part I mentioned.

I dont think I've ever "played the race card", but I admit I never clearly understood what that was supposed to mean anyway. I've come to think it's a pretty vague phrase often used by people as kind of an "out" when they dont have the ability to flesh out their argument.

IRL I'm probably the last one to play the race card. I just do it here to stir things up because so many people act like racism doesn't happen anymore.
