why are people so stupid?

should've told him "doesn't matter how big or small i am. i know 15 different ways to kill a man and he doesn't even have a chance to scream."

sometimes, that really shuts people up. especially people who think Marine Corps = psychotic meathead killers.

kinda funny actually, cause i've talked to people and when they found out i was a marine (whether still in or had gotten out), i'd usually start to feel they were throwing more respect my way. there were even times that someone would say "aren't you kind of small to be a Marine? like, aren't the marines really big muscle loaded guys?" w/out fail, everytime i heard that, i never had to respond. someone involved in the conversation would say "he doesn't have to be big, this guy has been trained to kill people with his bare hands! size really doesn't matter!"

those conversations were always interesting, and i'd just remain as humble as possible while nodding my head going "yeah, he's right."

Gobus, you entered the Marine Corps in 2002 and you're stateside? what's going on there? did you go to afghanistan or iraq? i got "lucky" and got out in march 01. don't get me wrong, i would've gone to war if asked w/out a problem. that's what i enlisted to do, serve and protect my country. guess i just lucked out and didn't have to go anywhere while i was in. guess that's what i was thinking when i enlisted....i'll go to war if i have to, but i hope that we (the armed forces) aren't needed. just like your seatbelt, you put it on in hopes you don't have to use it.

Yeah, I enlisted in May 2002 and was honorably discharged in May 2003. I was injured in infantry training, and both my feet shattered. My fault really, because I felt the pain in my feet but didn't tell anyone for a month, and just continued the humps and running. One morning I woke up and I couldn't stand on my feet because they were so painful. 2 MRI's and a CT Scan later, it turned out that my feet had stress fractures in them that had worsened to full blown breaks in my feet. My arches also collapsed, and the doctors said I could never do heavy impact anything on my feet again. I didn't go to the doctor because I wanted to go so badly to Iraq with my fellow Marines, and I thought I could just tough it out. The crappy thing is that the doctors said if I would've came in at the first instance of pain, they could've healed me in a couple of months and I would be there right now. Oh well, I was stupid and paid the price. On the plus side, the doctor wrote "Patient has a very high pain tolerance" on my medical chart! LOL! That's my story, and even today I still miss the Marine Corps.
