I do, and it kinda sucks, but it is kinda good.
all my motivation is intrinsic, meaning i dont rely on anybody but myself. i have noone to compete agianst, except myself. and im my worst critic.

This is me...

Exactly

I train alone 80% of the time and will get a spot when needed from people I know at the gym. Like louden says I dont need anybody to motivate me to to push myself self, and yeah my shoes are pretty rank also. I guess socks should be worn with my training sneaks.

I train bench with a great partner, Bigguns15. I also train traps with her. Our training differs quite a bit to grab any other workouts together.

I trained alone for many years. Anytime I can train with my brother, it's far more productive. Kinda like an EF meet up or visit, I guess.
I've had a few good training partners over the years, and that always kept me going, but the majority of the time, I'm a loner, too.

Now, I basically train alone except for squat days, when I try to hook up with a couple of the guys I work with.

i dont mind other then bench. i almost always have another 2 reps in me, but if im alone i wont go for it. but its better then the alternative. theres people who will bench alone and then just yell "SPOT" when the bar is almost crushing them....thats dumb.

I do my own thing, but I have friends in there who can spot me if need be.

I'm the same way. I don't need a workout partner to motivate me, or push me to give 100%. I like to have one on occasion, but the majority of my workouts have been alone. Usually my best workouts are when it is just me, my headphones, and the iron.

Trained alone for years. Thought it was great.

Then I found some GREAT training partners... and I can't imagine going back to training alone.

i train alone, i dont like training partners they bullshit too much, too much talk not enough lift. i just get ppl from the gym to spot me when i need it and im good to go

I train alone and for me its the only way to train which is why I have a home dungeon. When I close the door to my garage, Its just me and the weights. Nothing else exists. My worries, my problems, my family, my job, my money, etc. are all on the other side of the door. The weights and I get very focused and personal with each other and to have someone else in the mix would be an intrusion.

i train alone. i have yet to find anyone who wants to lift hardcore and is as dedicated as i am. i usually break pr's by myself more frequently out of fear of getting stuck or hurt. i use it to my advantage

when home i train with my dad, its great motivation to see someone 24 years older than me putting up bigger numbers too.

at school, i pretty much train by myself, no ones hardcore enough for me

i usually cant work out with someone b/c we usually end up talking about all the girls that walk by .. great way to lose focus. working out alone = focus.

I workout alone and i like it. Just me,the weights and the bench.
My dad is going to start working out wiht me but thats kool since he used to lift too and that will help with the motivation with him as a lifting partner.

sometimes that good and sometimes that bad. i train alone but i always keep a positive look on my training unless i know i deserve to be critisized by myself. last training partner wasn't serious about powerlifting and that's a huge conflict with me because i am...he would rather spend his time learning martial arts than training for powerlifting and so i train alone. if a partner came along with the same goals as me...i would accept them as long as they have an open mind about it. so there are pros/cons on both sides of the issue...partners vs. going solo...have you posted you progress here yet? this would help out in the motivation and sometimes...that's all you need to keep goin. wish ya luck brotha!! tb

I workout alone and I prefer it that way. I need a power rack though. I'm buying a house next year and that will be my first piece of furniture.

that will helpout your training a whole lot!! especially w/o a partner. tb

I think its really nice to train alone as long as you arent going for new personal records. I get more work done when i train myself and myself only but on thoose days when everything suck its kinda nice to have someone with you.

Since day 1 its been that way and it'll stay that way..
I can't have anybody in my ear with bullshit or let myself be distracted with others around.

Now im going to be a pain in the ass so stop reading if you cant take it.
Either your a jerk yourself or you have only had jerks as gymbuddies, I agree with you that it is hard to find somone that doesnt just talk bullshit during workout but if you find the right partner he or she can give you a tremendous boost to your routine.

That hurt..

Really though, I go all out every day I train.

I've seen amazing improvements in my physique from training alone. If someone was to approach me and ask to train with them I wouldn't call them out. I just don't feel its nessesary.

Oh, that "boost" you speak of, it comes from within.

Some of us don`t need a tremendous boost from a workout partner...we can do it ourselves and obviously it works very very well for those of us that do train alone and some of us don`t need to call other people names when their methods or opinions differ from our own..........

I totally agree.

I train alone most of the time, and I do not have a problem motivating myself. But, if I could find some good training partners I am sure it would do some good. It would be nice to have someone that could hand off a bench, watch my form and correct it as required (everyone has lapses in form now and again and it is not always noticable to the person lifting), and someone that I *know* can spot correctly and will not allow any weight to crush me :). I make it a point to go in and train with a group of stronger people at my gym once every two weeks or so, even though they train different than I do I always learn something. But, good training partners are hard to find.

Im 19 so all my friends want to do is drink, and if they do want to workout they want to do chest/abs/arms nobody has made it past leg day with me so I decided workout alone, I have been setting pr's like nothing I am gaining weight,up from 175 to 187 since start of sept natty with no visable rise in bf except a wee bit on lower abs(still have2) and I just get spots from people in the gym when I need it.

Thats exaclty what I meant :p

i'm on a solo mission 70% of the time. I have two friends who like to train with me, but since we're all in school our sched's conflict too much. plus one of them yaps too often and slows things down to a grind

i had a training partner for about a year, it was friggin great
but then aagain, he was a competiitve bodybuilder and while we trained it was no bs, that was for afterward

otherwise my only training partner is my mp3 player

i have tried training with others, but didn't like it, i think if goals are somewhat similar, that makes a big difference

I train alone except for squats. Training with someone is great motivator on squat day, but I wouldn't want to rely on someone else showing up the rest of the days I workout.

I wouldn't mind a PL training partner if I could find one who likes to go to the gym at 4:00 AM. (Hey, I have to commute to Chicago for work.) Course they would have to follow my routine. ;)

I'd love to train with the majority of the people on this board. It would be both productive and a blast. However, I'm happy to settle for training by myself, because there is no way known I'll find a decent partner here.

Met a pro the other day at the Bill Perl Open and we got to talking. He told me that he trains alone all the time. He reasoned that most people train only to look better or for some similar reason and as a result cannot be relied upon in the gym. He said that because he trains alone and because he looks at what he does as his job, which it is, he gets much more motivation and results from his workouts than he would if he had to drag somone else along with him.

Personally I can see some of where he was comming from. However, I love to train with my partners. I get a lot of variation and motivation from them as well as the fact that they push me harder than I probably would myself. I guess everyone is different in this respect. I am fortunate that I have the opportunity to train with some serious bodybuilders. Sometimes I don't mind trainnig alone but for the most part I feed off of my partners.

Alone, but a partner would be cool sometimes. It would help to keep the motivation up, and there's always the competition
