How cute, another armchair cowboy that never served, telling the Marine to do research on combat  :FRlol:

It's called "sarcasm." Did they draft you the week they were teaching that in high school?

It's not sarcasm if you're talking like you actually know what you're talking about, which you clearly do not.

and to answer your question, no, they didn't draft me, as there hasn't been a draft since like, 6 years before you were even born, so I'm well aware of what sarcasm is.

Listen, buddy. You're here preaching on about how I don't know what I'm talking about so my opinion doesn't matter, etc. The fact of the matter is that what's would be going on if there is a draft would be a contradiction in itself and validate my point.

What happens in a draft? Civilians are sent, many against their will, to participate in a war - a war to defend freedom.

IF YOU ARE BEING FORCED TO DO SOMETHING AGAINST YOUR WILL, WHERE IS THE FREEDOM ONE IS TRYING TO DEFEND?

I'm sorry, but if you think that being drafted means that you're going off to fight for freedom, then you're sadly mistaken. You're going off to fight for some "armchair cowboy" - the same thing you criticize me for being.

Sad but true.

its still by far the best country in the world.

That is true, but it is still no excuse for the corruption and problems going on today.

So you don't care that Iraq is building nuclear weapons? You'd just rather sit in you living room and wait for the nukes to kill millions before it's time for action?

Do you care that we are building nuclear weapons.. giving them to Israel who is in turn selling them to the Chinese (communists)???

FYI.. China has an army of 500 million men.

I am not afraid to die, but I decide when and if I go war.

As long as the US is mighty and willing to lead the free world you will have that option. Just remember who your daddy is.

This all brings to mind another issue. I've long felt that only people who have served their country should have a right to vote.

Why do arm chair idiots who wouldn't put their own lives on the line to support freedom have a right to shape our political policy? Why do people who have never and will never contribute to this country have a right to send our boys to fight and die?

I'm not even adverse to public service in non-military volunteerism as an acceptable way to gain voting citizenship.

My wife and I each put in 1,000 volunteer hours with Mountain Rescue the year of the Gulf War. That was with both of us working jobs. I would love to see that kind of volunteerism lead to voting privileges... rather than voting being labeled a "right."

Ever heard of taxes?

And I'm not sending our men to fight and die. The people you voted for are.

If it were up to me, we wouldn't be the police of the world, and half the Middle East probably wouldn't want us dead.
