Just a thought, why isn't Bush doing anything about Saudi Arabia?

Most of the hijackers were from Saudi Arabia, as well as Bin Laden. Saudi Arabia seems to be a breeding ground for terrorists.

Warik. I never claimed it was right to force people to do sometihng they don't want to. But, you shouldn't feel forced when it comes to defending your country. There are plenty of ways to get out of going to war, if you would rather back out. When you loose loved ones to an act of terrorism you might feel different on if you are being forced to something you don't want, or if you are being called to protect what you love.

why then no world-wide hatred for other non-tyrannical, advancement-benefitting countries that buy tons of oil, like Australia, Japan, or Switzerland? No one is bombing their embassies or burning their flags in effigy. why?

if tyranny and poverty causes the terrorism, why then no terrorism from other people oppressed by tyranny and poverty? no Cuban, Chinese, South American, Indian, or Sub-Saharan African terrorists? why did we go 50 years without Soviet terrorism? where are the Mexican terrorists spurred on by poverty and the oppression of the US?

Because those countries aren't the ones called upon to defend to oil-producing countries when they are attacked by a madman like Sadaam Hussein. We are. They hate us because they feel that their monarchies are trying to emulate the American way of life, and they don't share the wealth.

Well, the Chinese have their own groups that oppose the government, but their soldiers are ordered to kill them, so militants in Communist countries don't usually last very long. For the most part, those other races that you mentioned don't have religions that teach them that anyone that is not muslim are infidels and should be destroyed.

Well, it may not be purely "sub-saharan Africa" butthere are notorious probelms in Sierra Leone and other diamond producing countries. These are the guys that invade the diamond mines and hack off the arms of children wroking there. (As if it weren't bad enough to be a child laborer in a mine). Look up a guy named 'foday sankoh' for some info on African terror.

USSR and China both had/have the resources to squah their opposition and then bury it with teh state propaganda machine. But it is misleading to say that terrorism is confined to the Middle East and confined to Anti Americanism.

1) but that is not true - there was a multinational coalition formed for the Gulf War. Many countries participated, militarily and diplomatically. many countries bombed Iraqis. yet none are the objects of hatred. Even the enemies of Iraq, like Iran, hate the US - is that because the US fought its madman enemy, too?

2) you restated your earlier point - again, this is true for most countries on Earth - most are poor, and have rich leaders. yet, the hatred comes only from one region, and is directed to only one rich country.

3) this makes sense, I agree that religious ideology and propaganda plays a large part.
