Who has had surgery?

jnuts

New member
What part was brokee?

For me it was arthritis in my left shoulder from an auto accident. They went in and ground it out. That was fun.

I have had

1) torn bicep tendon and labrum in my shoulder

2) carpel tunnel surgery on both wrists.

3) And surgery on my kidneys when I was a baby from a birth defect.

Hopefully no more.:)

An elective vasectomy. Took 3 months to get over it. Bled for 3 weeks straight and got by, by wearing 2 Kotex Maxipads(changed 3 times a day.) Complications and balls the size of cantaloupes forever it seemed. Out of work for 3 months. I'm that 1% who has complications from this surgery. My luck:(

I didn't count my vasectomy because they cauterized my parts. I was mowing the lawn 3 days later.

only surgery i had was oral. impacted molars are not cool, they had to cut open my gums under my back molars and chip out my wisdom teeth, all 4 of em. only plus is they gave me a prescription for perkaset(sp?)

Well, to make you feel better, I'll let you know how they electrocuted me.

When they do the cauterizing thing they slap one electrode on the leg and then the other part does the zapping and closing of the parts (I think)

Anyhow... one side went fine. After they went to the other side... things got interesting. Evertime they went to use the electrode thing, my whole body whould start spasming for the electric shock. It took the fucking morons 3 times before they asked me if *I* thought the power was set to high. I would of said something sooner, but the 3 shocks came together quickly and I wasn't able to say a peep.

"You think?" was my answer. Fricken morons.

That and the memory of them taping my balls and injecting something in there to numb it...

Oh yeah! They didn't electrocute me or anything but I elected to have the procedure done in the dr. office and that is where the trouble began.

They gave me a valium to take about an hour or two before the procedure. The valium did nothing but wire me. I was pumped up like shit.

Then they decided to shoot some numbing agent in my balls. That hurt like shit! If I had been sitting upright I would have slugged him.

They cut the left sack area and dug and dug and dug around. They decided to cut the right sack area and that side went fast. 10 minutes top and that side was done. They came back to the left side and prodded around in my sack. Called two other drs. in and they had to get their damn fingers in their too!

Couldn't complete the procedure and loosely sewed me up and told me to come back in a month and have it done in the hospital. That's when the bleeding came in for three weeks. That sucked! Nuts as big as cantoloupes, I swear to God! They looked very impressive!

Went back and had it done in the hospital in less than an hour as outpatient surgery. Then it got infected. Then stitches came out. Then it became infected again. It was a fucking nightmare. This whole time, I wasn't working.

Took three months to get me back to work. And to think I had the initial surgery done on Valentines Day!

Night - fucking - mare!

detached ulner nerves, both arms - had them restrung

tipped knee caps from long distance cycle race/tours - sanding

twin spiral fractures in my fibia and a fractured ankle - while squating in prep for my second from last show.

Minor surgery for TTS(Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome) both ankles.

bunch of beat up dudes on here....

I calculated that my ankle has been kicked over 5000 times in my soccer career. :)

No wonder my nerves got squashed in between my ligaments.

Surgery for a broken nose from boxing at 18. I thought that because I could bench press 375, that I could knock everyone out. I learned a valuable lesson. Boxing is an art and it takes a lot of practice to be good at it. They put me in the ring with a guy who was fixing to turn pro. I went for his ribs and he hit me with a straight right hand. I heard my nose crunch. Found out that I had a pretty good chin though. One guy hit me on it about 50 times in one round.

- Appendectomy and ovarian cyst removed at 15.

- Abdominoplasty (No lipo) at 30.

- Mastopexy and implants a few months later. Had one
implant "brought down to match the other one year later.

- Hiatal hernia repair and Nissen Fundoplikation at 34.... THAT WAS A FUCKING NIGHTMARE. It is nearly a year after the surgery and though I am way better now than I was a few month ago my insides will never function normally again.

Is that for acid reflux?

They wrap the top third of your stomach around your esophagus to artificially tighten the opening.

Yes. I have had BAD REFLUX since I was a kid. My mom suffered from it and one of my daughters has it as well. I have permanent damage and swelling of my vocal chords as just one side effect. Everyone who hears my voice assumes that I am a long-time smoker. NEVER EVER smoked (well, for a month in High school LOL).

Yea well consider the fucking shock your system goes into for MONTHS afterwards. I was hospitalized several times for a few months afterwards and though I haven't had pain that severe in a few months I still end up on my kitchen floor on occasion (this morning as a matter of fact) LOL!

BUT - IT IS STILL WAAAAAAAY BETTER THAN IT WAS BEFORE.

My mom had the same thing. Her's started in her early 30's. She's had the surgery also. I've seen her in a lot of pain, but she always bounced back.

Upper jaw surgery to correct a very slight underbite. It had no cosmetic effect, but it corrected my bite.

The cut my upper jaw off, moved it forward and fastened it with titanium, which is still there. I had puffy cheeks for several weeks and had to drink instead of eat my meals.

What is a D&C If you don't mind me asking?

A uterine scraping to treat irregular bleeding or take a biopsy. (Sorry you asked?)

HumorMe's story takes the cake, though. After reading it, I think I'd rather practice rythmn or use condoms for the rest of my life than ask my partner to get a vasectomy. :xeye:

My wife had one of those when she miscarried in her second pregnancy. That wasn't fun for her either.

As far as me, I had agreed to have a vasectomy long before I ever had it done. We figured the vasectomy would be easier to reverse if we decided to have more kids then her having a tubuligation.

The complications I had were a nightmare. I sat and laid on my ass for almost three months and did nothing but watch TV and eat. I gained so much weight and became frustrated to no end.

The main problem I had during the first procedure(it lasted 3 hours and normal surgery is 30-45 minutes) was after they cut me on my left side, the doctor couldn't "grab" the vas deferen and didn't have the right clamp to grab it and clamp it to tie it off.

He said it was becasue of my size but I don't believe he was talking about my willie.:lmao:

jees, i didnt realize that many ppl on here have had surgeries. I am about to go for my 1st on the 22nd. kidney transplant(donor) but they're doing it laporascopic(sp?) so hopefully wont take too long to heal up and be back in gym.

when they put u to sleep do they do it w/i.v. or do they use gas?

I've had my tonsils out and also had some throat work done as I fucked it up from throwing up a lot in my late teens. It bled a lot prior to that.

I've had 2 wrist surgeries, the last was a few weeks ago. Now all is well.

LMAO.......tough lesson to learn that one :)

They did my hernia repair and fundoplikation labroscopically also (thank goodness!). They used to put a 10 to 12" incision vertically in the center of your abdomen. I have five tiny little "slits".

They put you out by putting medication into your IV.

They can remove your kidney labroscopically? That is amazing! How do they do that?

I had one of those blow-up penis implants inserted into me. They stick it in thru your rectum . . . uh . . . oops, I mean - no - no, I've never had surgery.

i got castrated.

it was a prison rehab thing for sexual offenders. i could either cut my nuts off or stay in prison for another 20 years. i chose the former...

LOL you guys should see a list from the guys I train with, anyways, I've had a broken arm(horse grabbed my coller and threw me) a broken big toe ( looking at a OSU volleyball chick at World's Gym and drop a 45 on it right on the edge of the plate) and it wasn't her face I checked out lol, a few stitches from fights and a few on my feet from nails on boards I stepped on. Really not anything bad, screw that vasectomy crap lol that story was crazy, even tho a guy at the gym had it done and in a week was back training.

ok were should i start?

well 1 week after i was born i had surgery i forget what for that was a long time ago but if i didnt get that surgery i wouldnt b here! then like 2 weeks after that it came back and had to get it agin.

then at 2 i was jumping on my sis bed and ran my head into the sharp edge of the head board got 30 sitiches in my forehead and a cracked skull!

Damn! They do it from the front?! The technological advances of medicine are astounding anymore!!!

Good luck to you and your stepmom!!! :D

After reading this I guess having your wisdom teeth out counts so twice. I have had three procedures that required anesthesia though.

@Wisdom teeth was OK, I asked for a full knowckout but since I have athsma they only gave mne Nitrous. It worked out OK.

Then as part of a study they put a tube down my nose to take pictures of my lungs. That was actually kind of fun. The stuff they gave me was great. I felt relaxed for like 24 hours after that. Bronchoscopy I think it was called.

Then I broke my elbow skateboarding and they had to do an ORIF. I'm still recovering from that.

facial reconstruction of left side....cheek bone fractured in three places, eye orbital crushed

surgery twice.

once was because I cut off the end of my left index finger, about to where the fingernail would have been, when I was 12. So, I officially don't give high 5's, i give 4 2/3's with my left hand.

rhinoplasty and some septum work when I was 18 to make me beautiful, and breath better.
