Who has driven/ridden in a vehicle with CVT?

I did. Before buying my Yaris, I tried a Versa with CVT. It's smooth (dont feel the transition at all) and the RPM seems like stuck at the same point. Felt like driving a Prius lol Kindda weird. Apparently you get better fuel economy (the Yaris still does better).

as long as the car has enough sound insulation it's ok....but the constant droning at the same high rpm can get tedious otherwise

rode (didn't get to drive) in a friend's nissan murano with cvt...seemed fine from the passenger's seat.

Odd that Nissan is the only company committed to this platform.
a nissan altima coupe with 4 cyl and cvt is definately possible. :artist:

I'm just thinking about upgrading to a Sentra.

It has 5 star frontal and side crash ratings. :)

Are you considering a Nissan?

I'm not considering anything, my VW is barely a year old and I always buy manual transmissions. I just think the CVT is a good idea, if they've got them to the point where they're reliable and will handle enough torque to be installed in anything larger than the smallest subcompacts.

Nissan uses them in Maximas and Muranos now.
