who else hates itunes?

I can't be the only one that finds this little virus incognito piece of shit program exasperating. I payed good money for an Ipod, that should negate the necessity to require a program that takes over your fucking media content, deletes mp3's at it's own convenience, and then makes you jump through hoops with a dildo sticking out of your ass just to transfer mp3's to the player. What happened to drag and drop? And why does itunes insist on being the sole media player when it actually is a shitty player? If I didn't need this program to make use of my $260 investment in my sanity, I need music to tolerate the world..........i would let loose my antivirus software on this little fucker and then just delete it. And "MAKING" the installation of Itunes in conjunction with quicktime? Unacceptable!

lol

I hate it too there are alternatives out there. Although I have yet to test any of them.

I have a Zune. It plays anything and everything. I download my music for free because I steal it. I also copy my DVD's and can convert them to vids and throw them on my Zune.

BTW my Zune cost around $100 less than your nasty iPod and it has a better screen and holds 30GB of music, vids, pictures, and even p0rn.

sukkaz buy Crapple Products.

i hate itunes with a passion

what you need to do is install itunes, but switch off th option that makes it auto launch when your ipod is connected to the computer. then, install a program like Yamipod so that you can put your mp3s onto your ipod, while using programs like winamp or whatever media player to play songs on your computer

the only problem you get is that if you ever accidentally launch itunes, it WILL delete all the mp3s youve put onto your ipod using Yamipod. so delete the quicklaunch icon/desktop icon for itunes completely.

(you cant uninstall itunes completely and have yamipod. it required itunes to be installed.)

so yah. there you go :)

Best buy in canada doens't carry the zune......that was my first choice. I want the best buy extended warranty.......so the ipod was my only choice. Plus, I got 80 gigs for $260. And from what I saw, the zune 8gig was $200. I could have ordered it from the states, but then I'd paying another $20-30 in shipping, so no point. I think you're thinking of the ipod touch, that thing is well over $300......I'm not fucking with that touch screen. Too many people have said it's too glitchy.

you need to like take a deep breath, relax, and read through the installation options and the preferences. You have the option to not install quicktime with itunes, and you can also uncheck a box or two so that itunes isn't the default media player. Transfering mp3's is as easy as ctrl-O, select the files, then plug in your ipod so that your library automatically resynchs.

I don't even like apple or care about itunes, but breathe easy and smile good bro!

hey bro, the new versions of Itunes "will not" operate without quicktime installed. Of course I tried deleting quicktime.....it was the first thing I did even before I tried anything with my ipod. But when you try to fire up itunes then, it say's it will not operate without quicktime. Which is bullshit of course, because quicktime has nothing to do with itunes and installing files on your ipod. It's just a way for them to force package their products.

and you do know what quicktime does once it's on your computer right? Picture Mel from braveheart in his blue face paint charging forward.......that's how quicktime goes to war with window's media player. Quictime is an inferior product and I can't beleive that certain files on the net that I deal with will now only EXCLUSIVELY open with quicktime, which usually lags and then shuts down explorer.......fucking unbeleivable. So now I have to actually download files to my desktop so they'll open with WMP instead of being able to play them straight off the net.

rofl i can only imagine what those 'certain files' must be to get you this worked up!!

just use Itunes to throw your songs/vids on your Ipod and use a different media player for everything else. That's what I do

lol @ Crapple. I never got into Apple products. They float some people's boat but to me they're delusional into thinking it's so much better just because it's "not Microsoft". Technically, if you go by a per user basis, Apple seems to have as many if not more problems than MS ever has.

Zune 80 gig is $250 at amazon

A) you only get the crappy and circumspect apple warranty, I prefer best buy's

B) after I have it shipped to Canada, it's going to be about $270+ anyway.

The best buy warranty is why I buy at best buy.

If you hate the iTunes, try the Zune. Then after you get a Zune you stand inline for a Surface - http://www.microsoft.com/surface/

A) Extended warranty is a waste of money

B) Move to the U.S.

:)

well I just moved "to" canada from the U.S.....I think I'll stay for a little while at least eh? hehe, anyway......the extended warranty from best buy has saved my ass on more than one occasion with mp3 players and game consoles.

Really? Sounds like it depends. Usually my stuff will go bad far after the period even the extended warranty would've covered, or right away.

I took my 30 gig IPOD to best buy 2 or 3 times, twice I got a brand new one.........so yeah, it's a must. I never had bad luck with my video game consoles........but two friends of mine got screwed over with ps2 and the xbox.

I have never tried any of the alternatives. All I can say is that since I finally broke down and bought an iPod I now can tote around nearly my entire collection of college albums in my back pocket.

You are clearly a cup-half-full kind of person.

I think you meant to say "cup half empty person" right? And while I like the abilities of the Ipod, I hate apple's marketing ploys. They're taking a page right out of microsofts book. And you can't tell me that the old mp3 players were you just dragged and dropped a file weren't better than the itunes system. And guess what, if you let someone else hook their Ipod into your computer, itunes will delete your library and sync it with the new ipod......better have a backup for those college albums. And I swear to god, for some unbeknownst reason Itunes will occasionaly delete a song here and there from your ipod and itunes library. I know this for a fact because I had to redownload "who wants to live forever" by queen.....one of my all time favorite songs.

Yeah, I meant half-empty, it's 8 am here and I had to come in to work :coffee:

You're talking to a guy who still has (and plays) 8 tracks and LPs, so I don't know too much about "old" mp3s. I received my first iPod as a gift last year and I have gotten a lot of enjoyment from it, although I never wear it in the gym, because for some reason I find that annoying.

Dig it when I'm running or traveling though, and mostly use itunes to download CDs for my car. But you're right, I can see some type of monopoly at work, or at least they are trying to impose some control over consumers like you who are wary of the many alternatives.

yes itunes is very quirky, hard to use, slow and non-intuitive. esp with most programs following Microsoft UI's standards. Apple has it's own stupidly slow and clunky interface.

I'm glad I never bought an IPOD.

the new 80 gig I have seems to be of sturdier stuff.....we'll see, i just got it. But it certainly looks and feels like it's built better than the first 30 gig video ipod.

itunes is horseshit now they have some shit that checks the mp3 files for encodign some weird shit.. anyhow its just to make you buy music from them and not using stolen music.. im prob.gonna cop a zune..

I used to use Winamp or Foobar2000 to put all of my songs on my nano but once I made the mistake of buying the iPhone I was forced to use iTunes. iTunes makes me create playlists instead of drag and drop, it can barely handle music collections over 300gb, there is too much eye candy (unlike the simplicity of Foobar2000), can't support lossless formats like FLAC and APE, and is just a crappy program overall.

the problem with zune, etc. --- ipod is corneing the accessories market. Mine and future cd players in cars for example -- only have an ipod connector. And i do't feel like buying a zune, buying a new adapter, then paying $50 and 1 hour for some guy to rip my stereo out and install the new adapter.

I haven't used itunes in years....I use anapod. It basically treats your ipod like a hard drive and lets you manipulate it as such...creating folders, lists, removing and adding files, moving files from your ipod to your computer, etc.

Though, I tried to get a recent version to work with a new ipod this past xmas and for whatever reason it wasn't working...I think apple had already updated it's software to make it incompatible again...anapod will catch up again in a month or so, though.
