One of the greatest female voices in our time. She supposedly had alcohol/drug problems, she seemed depressed to me for many years. Will wait to see what the coriner has to say, hoping it was a natural cause BUT I bet she overdosed....

Isn't it funny how much we know about their lives? I don't know them. I don't care what they stand for. I only like to see them in certain roles on TV / movies. And yet, I know so much about them. Wow.

Yes she was an addict, yes she made poor choices, but I admit that I enjoyed her music and for that, I'm sad to see her go
 
What I don't get is she hasn't been relevant since 1993, aside from getting abused and sucking dick for coke. Why is this such a big deal?

I'll tell you who's secretly happy about her death: the network putting the Grammy's on, the people who 'own' the show, and the advertisers who bought slots. The Whitney hype will be a ratings bonanza for sure.

So, exactly how many awards did she rack up over her decades long career?

You can appreciate her past accomplishments but she destroyed her voice with her addiction...It's always sad to see someone squander a tremendous gift and all the opportunities that creates. Her last tour ended in an appalling failure.

I thought maybe I was judging her to harsh but not even close. When Whitney sang it goose bumps every single time.
 
I was at at post Mardi Gras parade house party yesterday afternoon; the host played piano and one of the guests was a very talented singer (or so it seemed after several vodka/sodas).

They did several popuular WH songs for the crowd. I was amazed how fresh, how true-to-life the songs sounded when done by someone who didn't schreech as much as WH sometimes did when not "studio augmented"!

The people who try to discredit her because of her addiction are pathetic haters and many of you are probably also addicts yourself while you say that.
 
i feel bad when people lose there life to something they could have changed. we have even lost some good bros on this site for the same reason. i personally don't understand the addiction, but i know people who abuse alcohol and drugs. it doesn't seem like they can control it. but why is it some can stop but others can't.

We are all genetically different and also are raised in different environments.
