Can't decide between Beowulf and American Gangster, the only two good movies playing at the theatre I can walk to. Your votes decide.

I picked Beowulf because I'm an animation fan.

One film I'm waiting on is National Treasure:Book of Secrets. I was up at Rushmore when they were filming, and a couple other spots in the Black Hills. It's fun recognizing specific locations on a big production like that (there should be a dialogue scene with Harney Peak in the bg, shot at a place called 'Breezy Point'-I walk my doggie there all the time) :)

i heard american ganster is a dissappointment.

beauwolf while high in 3d was entertaining, angelina is hot, but the movie itself was weird and sort of stupid.

cool action though

its not even animated. i dont get it?? thats something that sort of bothered me,

why have actors act, so they can animate over them? is it cheaper? why not just have the actors, act, and show that, instead of animating over the bodiesof the actors, as they act

You're preaching to the choir, Sublime. As a purist, I'm snobby enough to think anything short of hand drawn, is *cheating*. :)

This techinque is derivative of 'rotoscoping' (Disney actually employed this method in some of it's more famous sequences to get realistic movement for it's human characters)...actors would be filmed in a studio, the stock would be run through a single frame projector, up through a stand and then an artist would trace each frame, later to be inked and part of a composite.

Today, I would imagine because Beowulf is not only a period piece but a fantasy, that tangible sets and locations would make it prohibitive in terms of ROI. (Although the Lord of the Rings certainly proved a wise investment).

It's was a pedogogical technique which has, now, evolved into one of aesthetics.
