bigrickrock, she asked about comparison of these two computers, and i am assuming they cost the same, DELL is obviously the worst one. Both have pentium processes, IBM has more memor. Read before you answer

The Dell is a little less expensive.

The Dell has a DVD player..
But that's not important to me.

I put mine together from "Extreme machines" Its awsome-super fast,i will never have to buy another computer...just add the upgrades!!!! It has a built in neon strobe that pulses when i play music plus the circuit boards have these hi insensity LEDs some are red ,green & yellow-really cool the whole side is plexiglass so you can see the inner workings!!!!! Now if i can just learn how to post pics!!!!!

The IBM has more memory? If I read the OP correctly, the dell has 256MB of RAM and the IBM has 128MB. Are you talking about HD storage? If so, the IBM has the advantage, but then it depends on what you want to do with the machine. I would choose the dell, because the CPU speeds are close enough, but that extra 128MB of RAM should make things run more smoothly and I would prefer the speed for running applications as opposed to the extra HD space for storing files (which might not be a priority).

Yup -extrememachines.com..you can even buy the tower custom painted--even some with flames like "the fast & the furious"
My total package was $800.00 without the flat screen monitor.

Show what you know smartass!!! I'm an Electronics technician CET-certified-32yrs experience....and i guarantee the video graphics on this board i have installed plus the surround sound would be too much for your pea sized brain.

If you will not be doing any upgrading and just need 7GB of memory storage, get the Dell. It has more RAM.

I really can't make a better judgement without knowing more about the motherboard.
 
This is what I decided to go with.

IBM Net Vista A20 / Pentium lll 733MHz / 128MB RAM / 10GB /
CDROm NIC / Windows 98
 
Get 256 MB of RAM --- that would be more important than the increase in processor power for you, I would assume. Get the Dell instead of this.

I agree...even if you're computer illerate-extreme machines will assemble it for you all you do is pick out what you want...i assembled mine after considering what i wanted...hell the video graphics are fantastic...makes my old one look like an atari!!!!

Radar.....my comment is not towards the MB, CPu, Video card,etc....it is toward the see throgh side panel with little flashing lights and other additional crap people put on their computer to make it look "cool" which has absolutely no purpose.....I know of the machines you talk about and they are a high quality.....but still what the hell is the point behind little flashing lights onyour pc??????

I'm sorry if i took your comment wrong...............the blue neon light can be turned off or adjusted for the intensity when i play music downloads......it was only a 20 dollar addition........i figured since the plexiglass front panel that covers the silver metal front glows a neon blue on the beveled sides the neon strobe would be cool to have....no biggie..its just something to show off...besides it makes all other towers look dull!!!!I appolize for comming on too strong...the way you worded your thread struck a nerve!!!!!
Being in electronics i have built all kinds of cool devices---a tv scrambler...I'll go to friends house pretend to be reading the paper and scramble the channel they are watching,it gets funny,Built a robot-yes it works, i have a drawer full of gizmos!!!!!

You will want at least 256MB RAM in any Windows PC. A faster processor will only speed up some tasks. More RAM will speed up everything, even the rate you can send us new pics of that body!
