Which is Better Chrome or Aluminum?

For motorcycles or wheels. I think aluminum because it doesn't peel or rust like chrome does. While aluminum takes a little more work it pretties up just as much as chrome does.

The reason I brought this thread up is because some dude told me that I should send parts of my bike to get them chromed so I wouldn't have to polish it anymore.

umm, chroming probably looks nicer to most as the oxide aluminium forms doesnt look as bright and shiny. if you shine up the aluminium would you be coating it in something to stop further oxidation? personally i like that dark look but if you have a chopper it probably wont suit it

also would you be p[lating existing parts in aluminium? id guess thats not an option due to the way they make aluminium so would ou have to get new parts in? would thatg cosrt more than electro-plating in chrome?

I don't like chrome wheels on sportbikes. They might look flashy, but you never see any raceteams using them.

I'd rather have my bike look like a racer replica (save all the sponsor stickers) than a flashy bling-bling ride.

I'd rather have a nice set of forged magnesium OZ rims at $3000 a set.

It all depends on the vehicle. I don't think chrome would look on, say, most any car/truck I've ever seen them on ... Right now, the Chevy Avalanche comes to mind. What a wretched sight it is with chrome wheels ...

quality chrome plating won't rust or peel. I have a 65 Mustang with plenty of original chrome parts that still look great.

isn't aluminum lighter in weight? isn't that all that matters?
