As of late ive felt a ton of aches and pains, as well as seen my diet drift off a little. Ive also been having some issues with my left shoulder during training. I almost feel like i need to not only get my diet into check, but revamp my routine as well. More importantly, turning 30 this year has shown me that my body isnt like Superman anymore. I get awkward pains just walking or moving the wrong way. My feet pound the concrete nightly at work which doesnt help either. I havent had a good "work up" from a doctor ever so to speak.
What are some suggestions be to try and work some of these issues out? Chiropractor? Deep tissue massage? Suppliments? Blood work? Colonic? A couple weeks off? A detailed physical? All of the above?

LOL......isn't it fun. I am about to hit 40 and if not for some serious life changes I don't know if my body could handle serious training. After numerous sports injuries, the army, years of heavy lifting and a very low test count........I though my days were numbered. But now, I feel better than i have in years and I owe some to the HRT but I am also finally really watching my diet, changing up my routine to help my body adapt and grow, sleeping better, not partying...etc.

Every b-day since my 30th I subtract a year..

Knox;

when was the last time you gave your body a rest, like say a week-10 days off?

also, don't they make some kind of inserts for your shoes to absorb some of the impact?

PS welcome to the over 30 crowd!

Detailed physical and time off. You could be overtrained, but since you haven't seen a Dr for a long time, is best to see one when there's potentially nothing wrong.

your just getting old. take a wk off and come back with a fresh routine.stretch good after every w/o.

Glad to be part of the over 30 crowd!........i think??? lol

You know, I havent had a period of time off from the gym or work now for 5 months. I see a repeat of "time off" in this thread so far. Maybe I should plan to do that soon...like real soon. As far as inserts for feet, yes there are such things. They are called orthotics. I just quit a position 6 months ago where i was the lean manufacturing manager for a custom orthotic company. I wear them in my shoes actually. I think im just getting old! 30 going on 65!! :)

Yeah, sounds like you're due for a week or so off. And remember, we're not getting older, we're getting BETTER

Take two weeks or even a month off, see your doc, do some check-ups, sort your diet out, do some training around the 8-12 rep range to get some nice pumps until you are ready to hit it harder.

Respect your body, give it what it needs, treat it right, you will be thanking yourself later. 30 isn't old age, don't dwell on it.

Great advice here....from everyone actually. Im set up to get a physical, the yee ol' finger wave, and blood work done next week. Gimme the works doc! Also, im trying to figure when to take some time off. Im thinking the last 2 weeks of December, and the 1st week in January. (so i dont get tangled in the New Year's resolution crowd). Im really looking forward to taking the time off and getting caught up on paperwork, and sitting on my ass for hours on end.

I'm 38 and just gettin back into working out after a couple of yrs off. I feel those aches and pains on a daily basis...I do deadlifts on wed and this last wed I felt all sorts of aches and pains in my knees and lower back, I started to think it would mess with my workout, but it didnt....

You are only as old as you feel! If you know it well enough your body will tell you whats going on better than any doctor. But for systemic issues you should see a doc.....
