When conducting deals worth millions and millions of dollars over lunch, where do you

have lunch?

Well this past week, I have seen it all.

First one was at Applebees. Deal worth 9 mil yearly. And they want to go to Applebees because of the parmesan shrimp steak.

Ok... the next one? How about the Scandanavian House inside Epcot Center? Yeah, that's right. We arrive, puchase tickets to go in just for lunch there, eat lunch and then leave within 2 hours of walking through the gate. We went to the resturant and then went back to the car. Nothing else.

Bizarre.

lmao. that's very odd.

I do most of my "work" with the client while on site at events and it usually involves drinking. seen some funny shit that I should have never seen.

Applebee's?!

That's funny.

I actually just closed a bank deal at a sandwich shop that could fit about 15 people max. Reverse merger into a publicly traded shell....board of Directors from the old BankNorth Group...and I had the turkey club sandwich with a bottle of Poland Spring water

UK execs drink Americans under the table.

I was there last month and we were talking to the CEO of a company about buying his company. He would order a shot for all of us, give a crass sexual toast, and then turn to us, unfazed and say

"So how would you calcualte our employment contracts? We need a time clause, a performance clause, and metrics to value our existing relationships".

I'd walk from any deal done at Applebees. I just would.

I usually just take the guys I deal with to Scores in NY. No lunch. We don't talk business either. The next day I just tell them how much I want. Pretty good technique. Its usually worth a couple million. I get 3% of the gain each year.

Money aside- it's the food, man, it's gotta be the food!! :RADAR

And if the food wasn't that good, then I suppose some multi-millionaires are just crazy like that.

I closed a deal the other day for a pair of shoes and then we went and celebrated at Johnny Rockets...overall it was a great day, must of cleared 75 bucks.

I never do any business negotiations at a restaurant.

Not withstanding the noise, the constant interruptions, the constant tug of battle between focusing on eating, and focusing on complex, well thought-out, intelligent conversations -- it's simply a lousy place to have a meeting.

Lunches are the desert of a hard negotiation. It's a time to relax, connect, build a rapport with the person you've been battling head-on for the past 2-3 hours. To smooth things over, and drink to celebrate over a newly minted mutually beneficial relationship. Or the solidification of an existing one. Laugh, smile, feel good.

Then go back, iron out the minor details and go back to your hotel.

... Then, you get suited to go out and bang some hot broads.
