What's your excuse for not drinking while cycling?

I live in a heavily visited tourist beach town and we have about 10-12 groups visit us each year. Most expect us to be rock stars and show them the town at least 1-2 nights they're here. During my next cycle we will have 3 groups spread out visiting. All will want to be sipping rum and cokes by the pool/beach at the very least.

I understand not everyone is a drinker but for those of you who get crazy once in a while....What's your excuse to friends and family for not drinking while cycling?
 
If you look fit and like health and being jacked is important to you, then people just assume that drinking isn't a big part of what you do. If someone says, c'mon bro have a shot. And your response is, "naw, I'm cool" that should be enough. Either that or go ahead and take a shot then sip on a diet coke the rest of the night. You're in decent shape based on your avi but if you declined to drink, my thought wouldn't be that you must be on steroids.
 
bro my excuse for not drinking is I detest hangovers.they fuck up my ability to have a kickass workout while on cycle or even when I'm not cycling at all.when I was younger I used to drink constantly,and I was definitely a binge drinker.as I've grown older I love being in control and making the best out of everyday I have,that means not being green,hungover and dehydrated from getting shitfaced and blowing money all the time.alcohol is hell on your liver,if you're cycling I recommend not drinking at all to be able to take full advantage of the gear you're putting into your body.otherwise I see it as a HUGE waste of time,money and an unneeded strain on your body and liver.

if someone offers you a shot,no thanks I've got to train tomorrow and don't want to fuck it up should be more than enough of an explanation.
 
I definitely drink less while on cycle, but I completely abstain while dieting. Alcohol + low carb diets severely impair my judgement, and I've gotten into some serious trouble. I'm not as worried about the excess calories and what-not, but the alcohol itself does crazy things to me while dieting. I get wasted off of a six pack, when it would normally take 18 on a bulk. I just say, look, im on a diet and already pissed off because of it, and if you don't wanna see the cops tonight, don't tempt me with alcohol.

I stopped drinking all together back in 07 when I became serious about my health! I would just be truthful and say weightlifting is a lifestyle and not a hobby for you .

lol test is prescribed medically to thousands around the world, yes there are down sides and risks, as with anything but with proper cycling and bloodwork and care taken it can be used for many years to come with great benefits, take our man radar and nelson am sure put most of us younger guys to absolute shame, yes we are serious about our health because we chose not to drink or smoke we eat healthy and we workout regularly id much rather choose this life style and say call myself 'serious about my health' then that of a douche bag

Careful use of hormones such as testosterone along with diet and training is actually very beneficial to your health.

Exactly. It's not a requirement, responsibility or a demand. I even think it's ridiculous that people feel they MUST drink alcohol for a toast. No they don't. Some people can not drink. You want something to say? How about, "I'm taking a break from drinking for a while. NO ONE would have a problem with that -- unless they're a total asshole.

I've never seen a doctor prescribe 1g of test.. They do it for hrt, and an hrt dose is 100-150mg not 1500mg..

Steroids have risks associated with them. But you cant tell me that sitting on your ass binge drinking and eating doughnuts is any safer. I dont agree that 1500 mg of test a week is a good idea. But sensible doses for 12-16 week cycles are perfectly fine.

Your excuse is simply you quit drinking. Drinking and drugs have no place in the lifting world any way. If you choose to drink do it very minimally. You definitely dont want to jeopardize you cycle with booze.

I simply tell them 'I dont drink anymore' hopefully they are good enough friends to respect that.

IMO steroid should be cycled every 2 year if you are worried about your health and only use 500-700mg of test, not every 4 month with a gram being normal like most people do..

i haven't drank in 5 years. first off I don't like to drink, second off its not healthy no matter what the alcoholics want to believe.. third in my profession you need to be sharp as a tack.. as super said above its just empty calories. for those of us who have office jobs we cannot afford to drink.

in my family some of my older relatives give me shit about not eating cake or ice cream etc.... those are the people I have no desire to even talk to. if you want to eat shit and drink shit that is your choice.. and if i want to be 100% rock solid with my diet and what i drink then that is my choice. if they cannot respect that then fuck em. i'm not gonna spend thousands a year on food, juice, supplements, gym membership/gas, and not give 100% into this lifestyle.

I can help you out. Drink beer, lots of it. Eat lots of bread and pasta. Work at it and i can get you out of that silly single digit bf into a respectable 18-22%. Oh, and quit working out regularly. Just stand around the gym for 3 hours talking loudly about how much you can lift and critiquing everyone elses lifts. Gold chains will also help your appearance so people know you're a serious lifter.

Classic that was what I was asking myself LOL! since when dies a health nut need to stand vigil over his liver? were risk takers and we willingly take the risks and hopefully a modecum of reward comes of it. AAS actually saved my life, had it not been for them my recovery would have taken way too long & been too much to bear, I was not expected to survive.

Thats what I was thinking, were risk takers hopeing for a modecum of bennefit or to satisfy insecurities. AAS saved my life, i was not supposed to survive, & the thought of any recoverry seemed hopeless if not too far in the distant future. so I took the risk only after a doctor told me it most defefinetly would speed up my recovery but refused to help, you know its a military thing.

You could always say you just converted to islam and are preserving you body for martyrdom.

My excuse is my liver.

But as my DARE counselor once said to me years ago: "An excuse works once and a reason holds forever."

This means that instead of giving an excuse such as, "I'm not feeling it tonight", you should give a reason such as, "alcohol doesn't fit in with my exercise/diet routine."

That way when the next occasion to drink comes along those people will already know that you don't drink for health reasons and if they are decent they will leave you alone.

I believe Arabian said it right, weight lifting is a lifestyle, not hobby... There fore drinking socially once n s while is ok. But I wouldnt recommend. I get biligerant when drinking on no carbs... Thats why I smoke...lol

Thats fine for those of you who only do it for fun. Nothing wrong with looking good and enjoying yourself. But for those of us that choose to compete in a sport, every little thing counts. If you want to reach your full potential leave the partying alone.

There are two completely sides to the spectrum being discussed here. I think the OP means what excuse do people who drink anyway give to their friends when they suddenly stop drinking while on cycle? As tbh even though i have admitted to occasionally doing it, is fucking ridiculously stupid. Thank god for N2Guard.

But the situation is totally different when comparing those of us who lift and take steroids purely for body image, and those who are what i will call 'proper athletes', who lift professionally for sporting purposes.

I'm not saying those who lift for 'fun and image' are not athletes, but you get my point.

I could not agree more.

There is something wrong however with going to a bar and watching a guy that looks like he should be on an NPC stage sitting at the bar getting absolutely hammered 2 or 3 nights a week.

If you win contests you can win money. But the point is I want to be the best I can at my chosen sport and I want every advantage I can get. Every time my competition misses training or stays out partying it makes it that much easier for me to beat them. Every thing I do is to make me better, not take away from my preparation. Like I said if training is a hobby for you then enjoy yourself, but I want to be a champion and partying wont cut it.

do you get paid for drinking though? its expensive as hell... i bought a 6 pack of beer for some guys doing work for me, i hadn't shopped for beer in a long time so had no idea how much it would cost... they scarfed them down so fast. i was shocked at how expensive a 6 pack costs. you figure they scarf it down that fast. that adds up quick, a waste of money if you ask me... all that money goes to the beer companies (not like the beer quality is any good, its just cheap ingredients), the store and taxes to the govt. would rather spend it on juice or supplements personally.

you have some great ability to go far in this lifestyle, dont let alcohol screw it up. thats the only advice i will say to you.
 
I live in Mexico, you know how hard it is to turn down social drinking. Here people see drinking a lot lighter than in the US. You can actually be walking down the street on a Monday morning, 10 am drunk as a skunk and people will laugh it off. If that were in the states you would be called an alcoholic.

The hangovers GREATLY affect my diets and workouts too, I have found the best thing here in Mexico that most people wont argue with...a religious oath. At the start ofa cycle I tell people I made an oath to not drink for 60 days or 3 months and so far people have left that one alone!

CK ,i had that party gene up until i reached my 40's, man! i loved a pitcher of draft beer.finally it caught up to me , still i trained ,i reached my peak of condition twice, one was my first cycle of German Dbol(lugwigs we called em) Potent as hell ,I completely changed my physique running 19-15mgs for 5 months, ther other was at age 57 i peaked out on by Birthday doing a 502 free standing squat at 1 rep max weighig at 215 lbs!
Now i only have draft once every 2 weeks with a cheat meal , i helps to keep my sanity and the diet on track.

Now i'm 60 ,it's time to train smart not be a showboat, i still keep my range in the 400 lb bracket tho! :)
 
A drink at the weekend, or a couple of nights a week is harmless for most of us, unless your a competetive, professional bodybuilder. Maybe it's stupid on an oral cycle, but other than that it's not severely detrimental unless you take the piss and get wasted all the time.
