What's harder, bench press or pullups?

I gotta go with the pullups I can barely type cramped fingers. Benching doesn't tax me that much, but those damn pullups get me breathing.
 
Thats kind of a strange question since benchpress... its all about how much weight you put into it?
 
Well, considering that there are guys who have a pretty decent bench who can't do even one pullup, I'd say the pullup is harder.

i could bench more than my bodyweight before i could do a pullup.
 
Agreed on all of the pull up responses. Hard as hell...thats why I like the counterbalance assisted machines. You can do what you are capeable of, with little risk of tearing anything, and work up to your full potential.

no, i said that theyre awful by rep 8 - as in, they get uncomfy.

i do sets of 10 as standard for pullups before i add weight :)

ps it must suck not being able to blame boob weight for your pullup weakness ;)

But my bench is horrible, I always get this weird pain in my right shoulder, when ever I go passed a certain weight.

Depends.....if you are comparing a chin with weight which adds to bodyweight to equal the bench weight - then chins
 
seeing as i can do about 20 pull ups, but i normally keep my bench to 8-10, and about me body weight.

so i will say bench at this point and time
 
I hope some of you realize when you do pull ups, you should extend your arms all the way at the bottom and pull up to the top untill your chin is above the bar.
 
I can do more pullups than benches at my body weight. But that was a long time ago, so they're probably about even now.
 
I could do pullups all day, bench press I hate it with a passion. Too taxing on the shoulders. I'd probably get more reps out with my bodyweight on pulls than I would with bench.
