Given he's young, what words of wisdom would you tell him to help prepare him for his future?

Would you go with:
1) Everything doesn't really matter in the long run.
2) Do whatever makes you happy.
3) She's cheating on you (nomarriage).
4) Start a small company.

Or is there something else?

if you go to college, spend at least two measly hours a day studying.

take financial risks while you are still young enough to recover from them if they blow up in your face.

regret the things you did, not the things you didn't do.

Live how you want to live. Dont do things just because it "expected" from others around you.

I love that one Digi. Never heard it before!

Don't let anyone hold you back from your dream.
Get money, fuck bitches
Focus in school sacrifice going out to parties for good grades it'll pay off in the long run.

Start a business, it's a great challenge and very satisfying, then realize that money is a small part of your life..cherish your family.

continue your education, dont think your done when you have a degree, imagine if you took only two classes a year, that equates to huge results over 5-10-15 years. You will be much more current with anything new, as well as keeping your brain active. I had a boss that would not let the sun shine on me, held me back, so I out educated them, after 4 years I was their boss. My biggest live by is to never take my own perception as reality, however I am always aware that perception is reality for most people. I manage what perception I create, but refuse to take it as reality myself. Anyone who tells me perception is reality better be in marketing or politics, if not I consider them dangerous fools.

1) Go nerdy early. Nerds have a rough start but very often wind-up winning in the end.

2) Get into the best schools and get the most education you (or your parents) can possibly afford.

3) Get an education in a substantial area -- make sure it's something you can do for a living.

4) Make sacrifices early into your career. When your buddies are going out raising hell, you focus on work and a career.

Does it sound like you're missing much? Yeah, you will be. But if you stay focused and become successful, you can send for all that shit later. And sure, it's fun chasing tail and raising hell when you're young -- but it's even more fun having the tail chase you later on.

Much as I hate to admit it, Plunkey's advice is dead on with a few caveats: Decide on a career path early and focus on that goal with a single minded determination, if that means giving up "fun stuff" then so be it.

Don't even THINK about getting into a serious, long term relationship before age 25. Falling in love is great but it completely screws your focus, especially when you're young.

All that being said, personally, if I had it to do all over again, I would avoid guys like the plague, bust my ass in high school and get a job and sock that money away then take a year or so break between high school and travel the world. You can't count on being able to do it (physically or financially), when you're older.

Never use any form of tobacco, ever.

Dont get anyone knocked up and if you do, convince them to abort with all youve got.
Fuck the politics, just get it done trust me.

That's a great one. Also:

Don't drink and drive. Ever.

Don't smoke cigarettes. Ever.

Stay away from drugs. Kids who do drugs are actually NOT cool.

No drugs at all for his age but weed and roids are ok if well into 20's. And yea i know you personally hate fogg lol

if you work hard enough, and are passionate you can become succesfull at anything. My grandfather told me when I was a kid that I should think of grades as money...that every A I got would become money later in life, he also would always tell us kids that every year in college was equal to 5 years of working for someone else to catch up....i wish he was around to see his advice was solid

Or, if you do "knock someone up", get a mother lovin paternity test!!!
Sweetest words I ever read were "based upon...blah..blah blah...it is determined that paternity probability has been ruled out 100%" And I was convinced I did it!!

The rules my Father had as I grew up:

Don't get arrested.
Don't get a girl pregnant.
Don't flunk out of school.
Never drink the last Pepsi in the refrigerator (that belonged to him).

I would add:

Life is about balance; take care of yourself but help others when you can. Have fun now but don't jeopardize your future.

Figure out what you love to do and make it your career; you will likely spend more time working than any other single activity. Money is important and it takes more than you can imagine to support yourself and a family. But, if you rise to the top of your profession, the money will come.

Don't be afraid to be uncomfortable; being uncomfortable means you're being challenged and that's the only way to grow. The typical American hates to be uncomfortable so they eat constantly, don't exercise, don't tell the truth when they know they should, avoid difficult conversations and situations, get into debt buying "stuff" they can't afford and don't need, and take drugs (prescription or otherwise) so they don't feel uncomfortable.

Understand that sometimes life is uncomfortable and rise to meet that challenge. That way you stay in control instead of life controlling you.

Never eat yellow snow.

Never grab a bear by his balls. They don't like it and they can run fast.
